About this item

Whenever Selina asked about her late father, the grandmother who raised her changed the subject. The chance discovery of a photograph gave Selina hope that he was still alive and sent her searching for him on a small Spanish island. In this lush paradise, Selina found George Dyer, a writer who would help her solve the mystery of her past...and might hold the key to her future.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enchanting romantic story of another century.

Ms. Pilcher's satire of British manners and morals of the late 60's is a pleasant diversion from the deathly problems and violence of the present. Her sturdy prose, amazing sense of place, vibrant characters and comedic stance are all in evidence here. Sleeping Tiger is a guilty pleasure to read, even with its outdated attitudes toward women. Simply a relic from the past, historically educational and sweet, with a satisfying ending. One of her best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rosamunde Pilcher's Classic Books

Sleeping Tiger: Rosamunde Pilcher has done it again and again! I have read nearly all of her books and they classics, in my
opinion. No matter how many you have read of her books, they are always good for another time in your life. Iam so glad to have them on my Kindle and as soon as I finish one, there's another waiting. So wherever I go, appointments, beauty shop, I've got
wonderful books to read without the books taking up many shelves in my house. Reading on my Kindle, I can at the flip of a
switch go back to a book to refresh what it is about. Rosamunde's books are too good to not read!!! Don't miss them!! They
are not books that you can figure out the end at the beginning, as many books are, and I won't waste my time on that kind of book.

Disappointed with the length of the book. Don't know the page count but it seemed more like a novella. Plot seemed very obvious. No surprises. Pleasant enough read. I am a great fan of Rosamunde Pilcher but this one did not live up to expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really great read

Pilcher has a way of creating cozy domestic scenes which are very compelling. I love this story and have read it many times. She writes beautifully and you are engaged with the characters right from the start. Some are a little bit stock, but that doesn't interrupt the main storyline, as the main characters are round and you feel like you would know them if they stepped into the room. Truly a gifted writer.

I love Pilcher's tomes. This was a delightful little story, but I feel cheated. And it will take more than six words to say why, so I won't.

As always, her books are a treasure, to keep and read over and over. She is one of my all time favorite writers, and, I'm sure, a delightful human being. Her stories make my soul soar to the lovely places she writes about, and my heart long to know the complex and real people in those stories. This was my last of her books, now I have them all, and wish there were hundreds more. Thank you Rosamunde, for hours of pleasure, and escape into another world that feels so familiar and welcoming.
