About this item
"Hands down, one of my favorite reads of the year!" -Freida McFadden, author of The Housemaid
Meghan, Brecia, and Skye have just one thing in common.
They were all murdered by the same man.
He hunted them online, masquerading as an eligible bachelor. Then he played the perfect gentleman, a thick layer of charm and a thousand-watt smile hiding the fact that his first dates end in shallow graves.
He’s gotten away with murder three times now.
The only thing that might keep him from killing again? The women he murdered.
Meghan, Brecia, and Skye might be dead, but they’re not gone. They’ve found each other. And they won’t rest until they find a way to stop him.
The haunt is on.

I went in not really knowing the wild ride I was in for. I also didn't know this was the same author who wrote Run On Red, which I really enjoyed both the chase and the writing of that one.
Noelle W. Ihli's writing is so refreshing. It's just so good. With the creepiest of topics filling the pages, the way she writes just makes this that much better.
I felt every emotion and panic from the very beginning until the bitter, bitter end. My heart was racing with each page turn. I read this in a day. I needed to just rip the bandaid and get it over with and find out what happened. In fact, I couldn't not know what happened. It was that much of a suspense.
I've never read a book from a ghosts point of view. And honestly, would normally think it wouldn't be for me, but the way it was executed made it so fun and interesting. I love the point of views. Each girl (and later ghost) having their own story but coming full circle when they meet as ghosts and connect in an unstoppable way.
It made me sick that James was a regular every day functioning human in society. He was a dad. He was a husband. An employer at a job. He did every day things and then also was a cold-blooded killer. I felt chills thinking about how he was out pretending to be someone else, meeting women, killing women and then going home and tucking his children into bed. This tugged on my heart strings.
I felt for his wife and continued to question how she didn't sense it! (I always tend to wonder how you don't know or see it when something in real life like this happens) There has to be warning signs, right?! I don't even know but certainly felt sad for her when she began to unravel the pieces.
I could feel her every move at the end. Running through the woods. Full blown mama bear mode protecting her cubs.
The three main characters, Meghan, Brecia and Skye were all so likable. I wanted their story to be different. I didn't want them robbed of their future. But was glad they were able to do their part in helping April and her two children escape the monster they were living with behind closed doors. I truly enjoyed getting to know them with each chapter. They were relatable and so well developed.

The story itself is completely original. How many books have you read that are from the point of view of dead people?
With a premise like that, I couldn't resist! And she totally pulls it off, complete with a post-death reality that seems actually plausible. (No religious themes here at all. Only that there IS an afterlife, and there IS love.)
The characters weren't airheads but young women who behaved realistically. None of that "Oh why is she so stupid?" like in some books. Nope, none of that at all. And, NOT a typical ghost story at all!
Perfect pace. I absolutely could NOT put this book down! What a ride!
I don't usually read action thrillers but I read this because of the unusual premise. I'd say this was a very compelling psychological thriller that turned into an edge-of-your-seat action thriller for the last few chapters. Even then, it never got contrived at all.
I honestly can't think of any flaws; this book was soooo well-written and the plot so skillfully crafted. The only little improvement I could suggest for the author is to have a bit more variation in the tone of 'voice' of the main characters; their voices sounded similar and sometimes I had to think "wait, which one was this again?" or cheat and check the heading at the beginning of the chapter to see which character was telling the story. But that is a very minor little thing.
Young women got murdered, so obviously it had to be somewhat graphic, but it wasn't any more graphic than it had to be. NOT a gory bloodbath, thankfully. It's the story itself that is so compelling.
Definitely one of the best books I've read, and I read over 100 books per year.
My favorite author is Freida McFadden, because of her flawless writing style. I gotta say, Ask for Andrea was right up there, every bit as good if Not better! And THAT is an incredible compliment!
I immediately wanted more, so I looked at Noelle's other books but they all seem to be more action thriller, or even horror, and I'm Not really into that genre. So I might Not read all of the others, even though the author's writing is absolutely stellar. (Edit: I just changed my mind and ordered another of her books - Room for Rent...just couldn't resist! I will probably still pass on the others though.) I hope she writes more unique, psychological thrillers like Ask for Andrea; I will surely buy them!
