About this item
For two sisters, confronting the past could come at a terrible price in a riveting novel about a family tragedy—and family secrets—by the #1 Amazon Charts bestselling author Elle Marr.
Fiona and Violet Seng were just children when their family’s Cessna crash-landed in the Washington wilderness, claiming the lives of their parents. For twelve harrowing weeks, the girls fended for themselves before being rescued.
Twenty-five years later, they’re still trying to move on from the trauma. Fiona repurposes it into controversial works of art. Violet has battled addiction and failed relationships to finally progress toward normalcy as a writer. The estranged sisters never speak about what they call their Alone Time in the wild. They wouldn’t dare—until they become the subject of a documentary that renews public fascination with the “girl survivors” and questions their version of the events.
When disturbing details about the Seng family are exposed, a strange woman claims to know the crash was deliberate. Fiona and Violet must come together to face the horrifying truth of what happened out there and what they learned about their parents and themselves. Before any other secrets emerge from the woods.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, but if you're a pilot, it'll make you wince

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gripping Mystery!
The author did a commendable job of keeping the mystery going until the end when everything came together in a surprising way.
This was an enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting premise; chaotic execution
An intriguing premise!
Yet having finished the book, I’m still fairly in the dark about what happened back then in the forest. The story goes back and forth between faded memory and reality so much that, by the end, I’m less sure than ever about whodunnit, or even what “it” is. And the author builds up side characters only to have them “flip” and act completely out of character. (Side note, now I have a much better understanding of that phrase!) Just… It was… Too mixed up. Too complicated. The story would’ve been helped by more simplicity.
Also, I was looking forward descriptions of nature and some survivalist scenes when I chose this book — what did the girls eat? how did they build a fire? how did they stay warm in the winter months? — but this content was entirely lacking. So that’s disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars A gripping tale of survival, secrets and sisterhood
Decades later, these sisters want nothing to do with reliving their harrowing experience. Fiona turns to art to heal her pain, while Violet struggles with her own demons. But hold on to your hiking boots, because a documentary film crew decides to stir the pot and bring attention back to the girls who survived against all odds. Cue the drama!
This thriller is packed with more twists and turns than a mountain trail. As Fiona and Violet are forced to confront their past traumas, you'll be hooked on every page. It's a real eye-opener on the power of family bonds and the secrets we keep buried deep in the woods of our minds. Trust me, this thought-provoking story will stay with you long after you finish the last chapter. Happy reading, and remember to always pack extra snacks for those suspenseful moments!
