About this item

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.

Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knox is the most selfless, selfish man I have ever read about.

Honestly, I loved this book. I feel like Knox has wasted a lot of time fighting things instead of giving in, but that’s what he believes he has to do. Especially with a romantic like Naomi, who has so much expectation when it comes to love that she could write her own book. However the only thing she is writing is lists. To do lists, to buy lists, learn about lists. Over night she went from engaged, soon to be married to single, robbed and temporarily guardian of her 11 year old niece she didn’t know she had. Oh yeah, and her nosy, really hot neighbor keeps showing up for her, and making her life easier, but then tells her not to fall in love with him… right. Sure… no problem.

* I will be the first to admit I waited so long to read this book! I think I was afraid all of the hype would not live up to the story, but I was wrong! This book is the first in the Knockemout Series and I would recommend reading them in order. I listened to this book on @audible and I was obsessed! The story follows Naomi and Knox in Knockemout, Virginia. Naomi is a runaway bride who heads down to Knockemout to help her estranged twin sister only to find her car stolen, phone broken, wallet gone, motel ransacked, and a 12 year old niece who she didn’t know existed. Knox has a troubled past and does everything he can to to help anyone in his town and after realizing Naomi isn’t her twin, Tina, she finds herself under his wing. Knox refuses to fall in love and Naomi tells herself he isn’t her type. Knox is headstrong, grumpy, and takes no nonsense where Naomi is anxiety ridden, sunshine, and a people pleaser. In this beautiful story they help each other raising Cora, Naomi’s niece and falling in love only to realize Naomi’s twin sister isn’t gone for good which leads them to risk their lives and in the midst of a crime ring.

I absolutely adored this book! I already started listening to the second one, ????ℎ???????????????? ???????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ????ℎ???? ????????????ℎ????! The spice was good and the end of the book caught me by such surprise! I figured we had not seen the last of Tina but never expected the direction the book went in! I loved all of the side characters especially Cora, Naomi’s niece, she’s such a spitfire who really just needed a parent

This book made me laugh, cry, swoon, and smile! This is a book about finding yourself, learning to love yourself, healing, and family. I loved everything about this world, and the people in the town of Knockemout.

Naomi ran from her life when she received a call from her twin, trouble making sister, asking for help because she was in trouble. Arriving in knockemout, Naomi learns that not only does the town hate her sister, but her sister also left her kid behind for her sister to take care of. Waylay is her 11 year old niece that she never knew existed. After her sister takes all of her belongings, car, and money, she gets some help from a grumpy hot guy. Knox is the towns business man, and helps everyone that he can. He instantly hates Naomi when he mistakes her for her twin Tina. Sparks fly and tempers are hot. These two banter as foreplay, and the chemistry is off the charts! I love these two together, and the family they have merged together as well. I am so excited to read about some of the other residents in the next books, and get a glimpse into what their future looks like.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked into Cafe Rev, but it sure as hell wasn’t a picture of myself behind the register under the cheery headline Do Not Serve. A yellow frowny face magnet held the photo in place. Naomi Witt a runaway bride lands herself in the small town of Knockemout, Virginia after a call for help from her identical twin sister. Naomi soon realizes the town was definitely not a fan of her sister but they don’t seem to realize she is nothing like Tina. Naomi struggles with her past and the secret of why she left her soon to be husband at the alter all while trying to work 2 jobs, support herself and a niece she never knew existed and her feelings for her hot yet very grumpy neighbor. Should she never have come here or is this where she has belonged her whole life. This book is written beautifully. Lucy has a very descriptive writing style that will transport you into the novel. I felt like I was living this book not just reading it. Throughout this read I was taken on a rollercoaster of emotions from bawling, laughing, mad and grinning ear to ear. There is not a single thing I disliked about this novel. I will definitely be reading all of Lucy Scores other novels. I would recommend this novel to anyone 18+ who is a fan of romance, enemies to lovers, smut or mystery.

I got to admit, I DNFd this book last year because the "mood-reader" in me just wasn't feeling it.

But for some reason, one tiktok video later, I picked it up again, and the mood was definitely on point.

Normally, I am not into the whole "grumpy/sunshine" trope, but for some reason, I made an exception for this one. Between the steamy sheets and smart mouthed jabs, I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Knox and Naomi.

Halfway through and straight on until the ending, my heart just kept breaking, bursting, and just all up in its feels. Some parts were outright hilarious, and others were just heartbreaking but empathizing at the same time.
