About this item
A deadly black widow has eliminated three husbands and counting. But Nameless knows her one weakness. To bring truth and its consequences to her crimes, the vigilante must spin a web of his own in part three of the Nameless series.
Lucia—current last name, Rickenbah—has made a fortune by marrying rich men who tend to drop dead. But the superstitious blonde believes in more than money and murder. Nameless’s job is to scare a confession out of Lucia, and as the psychological warfare escalates, even he may be in for a shock.
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz comes The Praying Mantis Bride, part of Nameless, a riveting collection of short stories about a vigilante nomad, stripped of his memories and commissioned to kill. Follow him in each story, which can be read or listened to in a single sitting.

Dean Koontz has kept my imagination running wild since I was 13-15 in the late '90's. All the twists and turns, one fantastic book after another. He has kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more stories, more books. I love how elaborately he sets the scene, and how easy it is to vividly paint a beautiful (or awesomely) Sci-Fi or macabre still-picture or a mind's eye viewpoint / subjective perception of how I see the antagonist, protagonist, other characters, the scenes, and the plot taking place. I love getting lost in his books (any books, really) and letting my imagination go in overdrive!
Kind of obvious due to titles given to her, but I don't want anyone mad I spoiled anything, so I'm saying it anyway... (Plus, I added a few things, too)
[SPOILERS BELOW!!!]
And 'The Praying Mantis Bride,' this Black Widow, made thrice by her own doing, most definitely had all the above in overdrive! She about had my mental health worker / crisis counselor brain doing rollercoaster loop-de-loops and wanting to grab my DSM-V-TR. ???? Sheesh! Her AND her mama.
Then setting up to make her think she's being haunted, using superstitions against her? Oh my stars! ????That twist with her mama, wow. And the white cats and drinking blood on the floor? WTF? ???? Give me 3 BLACK CATS...ANY. DAMN. DAY! Now, there's luck! XD ????????

Happy reading / listening, fellow Koontz fans! ????????
Wow, I am absolutely amazed how much Mr. Koontz can accomplish with so few words. This is only an hour long story yet we get a complete and well plotted tale nonetheless. This man has quite an astonishing imagination too, as all three books I've read so far in this first season have each been unique and truly fascinating.
I really enjoy watching the step by step process Nameless takes in his drive and determination to bring the truth to light when the justice system has failed. Here we have a black widow (Lucia) who was evil personified. Add in her monster of a mother, and we have a double dose of superstitious wickedness that no man is safe from.
The reparations forced upon her for her crimes was oh so fitting though and the actual ending was beyond surprising, since I didn't see that one coming at all! To be fair neither did Nameless, so at least I wasn't alone in my clear and utter shock. It was an apt end to her life however and I'm pretty sure that house will need an exorcism to get rid of all the evil contained within it.
My only real issue with this installment would be that we don't get anymore insight into Nameless himself. We only get one "vision" and readers are told about it after the fact. No instances of his clairvoyant abilities and no possible flashbacks from his past. It was still a very chilling read that I completely relished though, and without question another thrilling addition to the series ????

have been a huge Dean Koontz fan since I first laid my hands on one of his early books. He NEVER fails to deliver. I don't know how or where he gets his awesome ideas from, but he continues to blow my mind, still, after all these years. There will never been another author like Stephen King, nor will there ever be another like Dean Koonz! They are entire genres all to themselves.
