About this item

A gun. A mission. No memories. Nameless is back to hunt down an architect of chaos in #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz’s return to a landscape of hard-won justice.

In a forgotten Cold War bunker, a cold-blooded arms dealer counts his cash and watches from a distance as cities collapse into violence. Pledged to stop him is a man without a past, guided by a teenage boy through the tunnels under the corrupted port city. With each stealthy move toward their target, the path ahead grows ever darker.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz comes The Lost Soul of the City, part 1 of Season 2 of Nameless, a gripping collection of stories about a man in search of the truth, the past, and those who owe a debt of blood. Follow him through each story, which can be read or listened to in a single sitting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fate worse than death

Nice twist. Unpredictable outcome. Satisfying that no harm came to good guys. Villain more than punished. Suffered fate worse than immediate death.

5.0 out of 5 stars I read this one out of order!

I read this one out of order, grrrr. So confusing in the order, and I read it anyway. But I loved this whole series.

My man Nameless is like high blood pressure; the silent killer. I hope this series never ends. As long as Koontz continues to write them, I’ll continue to read them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rather OK.

As usual, Dean can turn a phrase and write an adventure. Overall, this one was OK. Unfortunately, as has been the case more and more the last several years, he spends as much or more time philosophizing about the terrible, always-worsening state of the world as seen through a conservative, religious and superstition-prone mindset as he does telling a story. Apparently, if you don't believe in God and magic, you can only be an immoral, unfeeling monster (even though the most atheistic countries are statistically the happiest, least-corrupt and best-run.) If I wasn't already invested in Nameless, I'd bail out now. When I finish this series, I think I'm finally going to give up on Dean, which is a shame because he used to write such tight, page-turning, mostly-hopeful thrillers.

Hard toget into this. The characters remain in character. The story comes together at the end. It isn't like other Koontz books. Doesn't seem real nor could be real.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual Yet Familiar

In my opinion, this short novel was out of the ordinary for Mr. Koontz. I could not stop reading after the first page. The story line felt familiar on a deep gut level. It reminded me of today's societal politics and setbacks.
