About this item

Sarah J. Maas's sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta.

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bold and Raw Evolution of the ACOTAR Universe—Nesta's Story Shines!

"A Court of Silver Flames" by Sarah J. Maas is a breathtaking addition to the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. It’s raw, unapologetically intense, and delves deeper into the darker facets of healing and redemption than any of the previous books. If you’ve been following this series, be prepared for a shift in tone—this isn’t a fairy tale, but a story of fierce determination, deep pain, and incredible growth.

This book centers on Nesta Archeron, Feyre’s older sister, and her journey after the devastating events that reshaped her life. Nesta has always been a polarizing character, but Maas allows us to step inside her mind, and it’s an emotional rollercoaster. Her trauma, anger, and guilt are laid bare in a way that feels heartbreakingly authentic. Watching Nesta confront her demons, both external and internal, was one of the most rewarding parts of the book. It’s not a clean or easy process, but it’s honest, and that’s what makes it so compelling.

Cassian takes the co-lead in this novel, and wow, does Maas know how to write a male lead who balances strength and vulnerability. His unwavering support for Nesta, even in her most difficult moments, was heartwarming. Their relationship is fiery, complicated, and deeply passionate. The slow burn of their romance is laced with tension and moments of tenderness that made me fall in love with their story.

Beyond Nesta and Cassian, the book expands the ACOTAR world in fascinating ways. The training scenes with the Valkyries—Gwyn, Emerie, and Nesta—were empowering and uplifting. These women create a bond of sisterhood that becomes one of the story’s brightest highlights. They show that healing often comes through connection and mutual support.

The plot itself is both action-packed and deeply introspective. While the story focuses heavily on character development, there are plenty of moments of high-stakes drama and suspense. The lore of the Fae world is expanded with new challenges, mysteries, and breathtaking settings that Maas paints with her usual vivid prose.

However, the book doesn’t shy away from mature themes. It explores grief, PTSD, and self-worth with a boldness that may be challenging for some readers. At the same time, it also serves as a beacon of hope, showing that even the most broken pieces can be rebuilt into something beautiful.

At nearly 800 pages, this book is a hefty read, but every page is worth it. The pacing allows for an immersive experience, and the payoff—both emotionally and plot-wise—is incredibly satisfying. It’s not just Nesta’s story but a reminder that growth is messy, painful, and beautiful all at once.

In conclusion, "A Court of Silver Flames" is a masterful continuation of the ACOTAR series. It’s a deeply personal story wrapped in the grand, magical world Sarah J. Maas has created. Whether you’ve loved Nesta all along or struggled with her character, this book will change the way you see her. It’s a must-read for fans of the series and a testament to the power of redemption and resilience. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars “Never again” a promise of hope
Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2024
I only just started reading this series about a month ago. The imagery inspired me to start drawing. Despite a degree in art I mostly dabble now. It’s been a while since I’ve felt compelled to bring an image to life. I think once I complete this one, it will be one of my favorites.

    Warning: mild plot spoilers

“A Court of Silver Flames” is a book that sings to so many who have said “Never again” to the darkness. It’s an acknowledgment, a “You are seen,” to the found sisters, the survivors, and the ones who have crawled, clawed and climbed their way out of darkness within themselves and a world around them. It shows how while Feyre and Nesta were sisters, raised in the same house by the same parents, their realities, emotional/mental, not literal, even before Tamlin, were very different. This book explores those differences and how Nesta has internalized and interpreted events to live in this painful place in her life. Nesta’s journey is familiar one for anyone who has fought to regain their self-worth and agency. The author lays out a healthy and empowering route toward healing her and helping find her purpose in this new world she’s been thrust into. The book is full of the same beautiful imagery, endearing characters, playful snark and steamy scenes we have come to love from the series. I can’t wait to read what comes next.
