About this item

From New York Times Bestselling author and Queen of Suspense, Lisa Jackson, comes If Only She Knew, a novel that will having you holding your breath as you turn each page. Perfect for readers of The Silent Patient and Then She was Gone!

If She Only Knewintroduces the Cahills, a wealthy San Francisco family—rich in money, twisted secrets, and hidden agendas. Now at the center of their tangled world is Marla Cahill—a woman with no memory of who she is, what she’s done, or why she could be the next to die . . .

It begins on a dark stretch of highway in northern California. Caught in a blinding glare of headlights, two vehicles swerve and crash—leaving one woman dead, and another in a coma. When the surviving woman awakens, her memory is gone and her face has been reconstructed. Her family tells her that her name is Marla Cahill—but they’re all strangers to her.

Recuperating in her isolated San Francisco mansion, Marla waits for something to trigger recognition. Yet the only thing she’s left with is the unshakable feeling that she is not who everyone says she is, and that something is very, very wrong. Marla knows her life isn’t just different—it’s in danger. And as her fear builds, a killer waits for the perfect moment to strike—the moment Marla remembers . . .

Another winner. Full of
betrayal, greed, ruthlessness and conniving idiots. Pretty darn good suspense. I'd hate to be living with this artificial aristocracy.

This was a good read and the author has a great way of building suspense. Several times She threw me off the truth which made it fast and absorbing. However , I do feel some of the characters did not seem totally believable. Monty especially bothered me and his physical absence was a clear hint that he was part of the crime. I also thought the way he spoke did not jibe with his class and appearance. He was totally obvious as central to the evil plot. I was thrown off by the cowboy brother who said Marla, who he had an affair with before she wed the brother was, indeed the same woman as the amnesiac Marla. Was he that stupid at 23? Marla was always self absorbed and grasping. Why was he surprised she dumped him for Alex? And why was Kylie driving the Mercedes? Was Pam drunk or sick? I tried to find this info but never did. I did, however, like the fact that Donald did not get the girl pregnant. He was weak and money grubbing but not a sexual stalker. I will read Lisa again. But I still have reservations. Loved the detective.

Great suspenseful plot. A very compelling story. Having amnesia and not sure who you are is a scary situation. Made a outstanding story

3.0 out of 5 stars Good plot but...

I've read some Lisa Jackson novels & liked them. For this one, the plot was very good which did keep me reading. However, I became annoyed with the characters & the overplayed (in my opinion) rehashing of their personality traits, defects & flaws. Yes, there plenty of unexpected plot twists that did keep me guessing for a good part of the book. But I ended up not liking the characters very much.

I just can’t wrap my head around this book. On one hand, I have to give the author credit because while I was reading it, I thought I had it figured out early on and was actually quite annoyed by it because it was so obvious. But then the author, literally used that thinking and turned the story around again which had me very intrigued and enjoying the plot. But at the end, it just became too much for me. Too many coincidences, too many people who looked the same, just too much that didn’t add up for me. I doubt if I’ll read the other books in the series,
