About this item
Gwendolyn Mary Darling Carlisle’s young life has been a saga of misfortune. After a tragic accident unexpectedly took her parents, Gwen finds herself the sole caregiver for her ailing sister. It's her eighteenth birthday. With responsibilities weighing heavy, she struggles to find something worth celebrating. Everything in her life has fallen apart. That is, until she finds a mysterious man in her bedroom.
Peter Pan has returned to the Darling estate. Only the boy from Neverland, who refused to grow up, has in fact grown into an alluring man. It’s time for spring cleaning and he’s determined to bring a descendant of Wendy back to Neverland with him.
Gwen is swept off her feet and across the Veil. Engulfed in a fantastical world of mermaids, Fae, and Peter’s new band of Lost Boys. As she gives herself over to the wonder of Neverland and the affections of Peter and his Lost Boys, she finds herself living out hedonistic fantasies that she could have only ever dreamed about. But not everything is as it seems in Neverland. Her memories of home, and her beloved sister are fading. A treasured family heirloom, a locket with its own ties to Neverland, is the only tether to the sister she’d left behind and the life she is obligated to return to. The fairytales she’d heard as a child only hinted at the truth. Neverland bears some dark secrets.

It is relatively faithful in a lot of respects to what most movies show Neverland to be. Mermaids, Pirates, fairies etc...I expected this to be a dark romance for some reason but it was not. The male characters are mostly sweet and doting and protective from the first moment on...I will say I was confused a little about their age range as they are described as having grown out of childhood and having grown up appearances one moment, but the way they speak and interact seems pretty innocent and childlike at times...only for them to also be sexually experienced and aware. This made me kind of struggle to form a firm image in my mind for who they really were. Our main female character is 18, works at a Cafe or diner and is alone in the world except for her older sister who is currently dying of cancer. She's not an innocent, she's not weak, she's not stupid. But she also doesn't seem very deep...she accepts and rolls with everything and everyone who comes her way with a nonchalance that I found baffling at times. I also felt conflicted about the whole reverse harem thing because more than one of the boys involved made it clear they wanted her to be theirs exclusively and were only tolerating the arrangement because they wanted her enough to take anything she would give them. That type of reverse harem dynamic tends to throw me off as a reader.
All in all this was nicely written. If you want a smut filled fairytale this is a pretty decent one. It does end on a cliffhanger...it's apparently book 1 of a two book series.
I was emerged into the world that my childhood knew and loved so quickly and easily. I almost instantly fell hard for Pan and his Lost Boys. (Tripp and Ryder are my favorite if you know you know) From mermaids to pirates I thought I knew everything to expect but holy crap was I wrong! I was hot and feeling emotions in all the best ways possible. And then absolutely shocked, and confused, and hanging on every last page to find out what, why, how?! - - Because I can't spoil anything but it was that good! And now why am I craving Hook in so many amazing new ways!?
This is a series I found randomly via a reel and I know it will now live rent free in my head…and I am not mad about it. I cannot get enough of this story and I am eager to go on to the next book! I actually begged my husband just to buy me the collectors edition right off the bat because I couldn't not have it with how much I fell in love with book one! This has endless out of 5 stars from me!!!!
