★★ A New York Times and WSJ Bestselling Romance ★★

She can never be his…but he’s taking her anyway.

Stoic, broody, and arrogant, elite bodyguard Rhys Larsen has two rules: 1) Protect his clients at all costs 2) Do not become emotionally involved. Ever.

He has never once been tempted to break those rules…until her.

Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess with a stubborn streak that matches his own and a hidden fire that reduces his rules to ash. She’s nothing he expected and everything he never knew he needed.

Day by day, inch by inch, she breaks down his defenses until he’s faced with a truth he can no longer deny: he swore an oath to protect her, but all he wants is to ruin her. Take her.

Because she’s his.

His princess.

His forbidden fruit.

His every depraved fantasy.

***

Regal, strong-willed, and bound by the chains of duty, Princess Bridget dreams of the freedom to live and love as she chooses.

But when her brother abdicates, she’s suddenly faced with the prospect of a loveless, politically expedient marriage and a throne she never wanted.

And as she navigates the intricacies—and treacheries—of her new role, she must also hide her desire for a man she can’t have.

Her bodyguard.

Her protector.

Her ultimate ruin.

Unexpected and forbidden, theirs is a love that could destroy a kingdom…and doom them both.

Twisted Games is a contemporary royal bodyguard romance. It’s book two of the Twisted series but can be read as a standalone.

Warning: This book contains a possessive hero, explicit content, and profanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best that Ana Huang has written, with Twisted Lies coming close
Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2024
With this book, I have completed all of Ana Huang's book. Ms Huang has a certain style of writing, and uses tropes well, in a beautiful, enjoyable way. But she also successfully is able to delve in deeper emotions which make the reading a highly enjoyable experience.

Looks like I saved the best for the last. Up until now, Twisted Lies was my favourite (Josh and Jules are an absolutely rocking couple) but Bridget and Rhys managed to top them. There is so much heartache, and love spread throughout the book. The best part of the book is that you can see both of them grow throughout the years and it's lovely. Ms Huang writes raunchy sex scenes, and while in some books I found them a little out of place because ALL of Ms Huang's MLs and FL's go for the roughest of the rough (honestly, they never seem to make love which is kind of odd, but that's OK), but here they blend in beautifully with how these two are with each other. The side characters were also quite delightful and it's always nice to see other characters in and out of the books.

4.0 out of 5 stars HONEST REVIEW (no spoilers)

|| ????️: 4/5 || ⭐️:3.75/5 || I am a little picky/specific with the books I like, but this one was a tiny bit underwhelming. I would rate this book a 3.75 but I had to put 4 because that’s not an option. When I read that this book was a forbidden romance, I immediately ordered it. The author is a great writer, but I wasn’t TOO obsessed with the storyline and the way things got to the end. The disliked: A lot of the story was a little repetitive, and I don’t think the story was slow burn enough. Yes, you could call it character development, but I fell in love with the cold hearted MMC in the beginning, and to see him turn into a snuggly bear only halfway through the book had me (only a little) forcing to finish it. Another thing is that sometimes the time would just skip a couple months or years and the readers are left a bit clueless even when you’re filled in. I want to see what happens in that time because I have FOMO. At the end, it kind of felt like it was rushing to the ending and the flame of being at the edge of my seat fizzled out. Yes, I get that the storyline kinda requires it, but just reading “2 years later” turns my stomach because I feel like I missed out on a lot! I also LOVE spice and I think she did a great job with the tension in the beginning, but it really died down towards the second half. It kind of felt like the last 3/4s of the book was them clearly in love while only the 1/4 was falling. I personally like more build up and slow burn. Also, I would’ve liked the FMC to be a bit more… dominant in bed sometimes. I LOVE how Rhys was, it’s hot, but I wanted to see him weak in the knees at one point, despite his big masculine persona. Information: The plot line is a hot bodyguard with a brutal past whom falls head over heals for his princess client. The story became quite predictable, but that’s okay, because I mainly started reading for the spice. Do not go into this book thinking it’s all spice, it’s not. It’s both spice and love equally, which is still nice. Things I liked: I really liked the beginning when Rhys ignored Bridget, and we got to see their tension and banter turn into love and passion. I would’ve loved more of that rather than royal politics consuming their story. I also like how the author added subtle hints of characters from the other books in this series sneaking around, to which I will be reading the rest. I skipped twisted love, however, because I read the reviews and just chose to dive right into this one, because the reviews said the author listened to her feedback making this book and the connection much better. I read some other reviews on the other books and will only be proceeding to read twisted hate, as I love the story line on that one. I know all of the books are good, I’m just picky!! My recommendation: I know no one asked lol, but I recommend it if you like romance book with some good spice and tension. However, if you’re more into tension and spice (the good stuff) than lovey dovey, I don’t recommend this book. I would probably recommend twisted hate, although I haven’t read it yet. If you’re reading the reviews and can’t decide whether to buy it or not, I suggest buying it, readinf up to half way, and if you don’t like the royal politics or get a little bored like I did, you can just pick up another book. (Anyway, I’m sorry if this review was a bit harsh, I’m just very picky and not into an overload of lovey dovey! Onto reading credence by Penelope Douglas next LMAO I’m not sure how I’ll be able to handle the drastic change.) Anyway, I recommend and it was a good read, just more so in the beginning :) It was a great book, and well written, just not for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Love...Games
Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2024
This story follows the bodyguard and the reluctant princess thrown into roles they would never take. Fighting the attraction in their own enemies to lovers trope, Rhys and Bridgett are wonderful characters and support each other in the struggles with their families. The love between the characters is palpable and they are exciting to read about. Getting to see them reach a level of happiness that was much needed made for a wonderful read. Equally detailed and intense intimacy scenes and perfect read.

"Twisted Games" is a compelling and heartfelt romance that goes beyond the surface-level love story. With its well-developed characters, intriguing plot, and emotional depth, it is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance. Ana Huang has crafted a tale that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, making it a standout in the genre.
The book delves into themes of duty versus desire, the struggle for personal identity, and the power dynamics in relationships. It also touches on issues of trust, vulnerability, and the sacrifices one must make for love.
Ana Huang's writing is captivating, with vivid descriptions and emotional depth. The dialogue is sharp and realistic, and the alternating perspectives between Bridget and Rhys provide a well-rounded view of their thoughts and feelings. The author skillfully balances steamy romance with heartfelt moments, keeping readers hooked from beginning to end.

I really enjoyed the story of Bridget and Rhys, what a great irritation to love relationship story! It was a thrill ride for sure. A little predictable but I enjoyed the change in genre. Love it! So fun!

So, I finally gave in and bought the Twisted series—and I’m so glad I did! The storyline across these books is absolutely brilliant, and they connect seamlessly with one another. Twisted Games was my personal favorite out of the four, and I know I’ll be revisiting these books soon. It took me a week to devour all four, and I couldn’t put them down; the storylines are so engaging that you can really picture the characters coming to life. The emotional depth of these books is incredible.

Ana Huang is a truly talented writer, and I’m eagerly anticipating diving into her other works. I’ve purchased six of her books and read them all! Happy reading!
