About this item

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The second book in the steamy, hilarious Campus Diaries series by
New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy, set in the same world as Off Campus and Briar U.

“I told them I had a girlfriend.”
I start to laugh. “This is the greatest day of my life.”
“Oh, it gets better, Dixon. I told them it was you.”

Diana Dixon has a lot going on this summer. She’s rehearsing for a ballroom dance competition, juggling two jobs, and dealing with an ex-boyfriend who can’t take the hint it’s over. Yet despite all that, she still has plenty of time and energy to tell Shane Lindley to screw off.

Shane just moved into her apartment building and seems dedicated to sleeping his way through her entire cheerleading squad. Sure, he’s a tall, gorgeous hockey player, but he’s messing with her turf. This calls for some ground rules: no parties in her apartment, leave her teammates alone, and—most importantly—leave
her alone.

What Diana doesn’t realize is that Shane’s sick of hookups and tired of being on the rebound after his long-term girlfriend called it quits. He wants a relationship. And when his ex comes back into the picture, he pretends he has one to make her jealous…and who better to play the girlfriend role than his sassy new neighbor?

Despite Diana’s reluctance to break her rule, a fake relationship is the perfect solution for her own ex issues, and soon she can’t deny something is sizzling between her and Shane. Something hot and completely unexpected.

And it might just be getting a little too real.

5.0 out of 5 stars So freaking good!!!

Gah!! This is a shout from the rooftops kind of book! Loaded with banter and chemistry and heartfelt emotion, The Dixon Rule just knocked my freaking socks off. I swear I don't think I have loved a sports romance series like how I just adore Elle Kennedy’s hockey series. Each book is filled with amazing banter, camaraderie, bromances and sisterhood. The Dixon Rule had exactly that and more. Diana and Shane were sexy, addicting and just plain-old-fun!! I loved their banter and how hilarious some of the scenes were.

There is no denying that this is a sexy book, but at the same time, it was spending a lot of time being awfully adorable and in doing so it completely won me over. I loved the connection between Diana and Shane. I loved their spitfire banter, fiery attraction and how they realized they had more in common than they originally thought. They definitely were not expecting each other and I loved seeing them fall head over heels. And I loved and adored the underlying fairytale of it all. There was some unexpected angst that was almost as emotionally rewarding as the romance. There were some decidedly heart-tugging moments and littered with these romantic scenes that sometimes took my breath away, which added depth and emotion and rounded out the perfect package that was this book.

With this book, Elle Kennedy delivered all of my favorite things about romance. It was funny and adorable, but smoldering with heat in every exchange. It was perfectly balanced and I had so much fun reading it! Honestly, this series is the gift that keeps on giving and I will throw myself at every single new release as long as Elle keeps writing them.

4.0 out of 5 stars very much worth reading

So, The Dixon Rule is good but truly, The Graham Effect is awesome. But TDR is very much worth reading. Just, for me, not up to par as TGE. But again! Very much worth reading.
This is Diana Dixon and Shane Lindsey’s story. MUST check trigger warnings. Very important.
But love the banter, the spice is nice, there’s lots of fun at the condo complex that Diana and Shane live at. Very funny banter with all of them.
Lots of character growth which is always nice to see. Even with a certain adult in Diana’s life.
Shane has a little sister who is cute. And his parents are awesome!
Be warned too, have tissues at the ready. I very rarely cry when reading but this one really got me. To the actual tissue , blowing my nose, point!
I highly recommend and hope you will read it. It’s definitely worth it. Happy reading!!!

Oh my! This is a book worth shouting about! The Dixon Rule, packed with warmth, humor, and genuine passion, has completely won my heart. I don't believe I've ever liked a sports romance series as much as I do Elle Kennedy's hockey series. There is incredible sisterhood, bromances, and banter in every book. The Dixon Rule has all of this and more. Diana and Shane were seductive, addictive, and just plain fun!! I enjoyed their banter and how funny some of the situations were.

There is no doubting that this is a sexy book, but it also invests a lot of time bing sweet, which utterly won me over. I cherished Diana and Shane's relationship. Their blazing connection, spitfire banter, and realization that they shared more in common than they initially assumed were all so endearing.

I really enjoyed seeing them fall in love because they were clearly not anticipating each other. And the underlying romance of it all was something I cherished and appreciated. The unanticipated angst was almost as satisfying emotionally as the romance. There were some heartfelt moments, as well as romantic ones that stole my breath away, adding depth and passion to the perfect package that was this book.

Elle Kennedy captured all of my favorite aspects of romance in this book. It was endearing and humorous, yet every encounter was blazing with fire. I really enjoyed reading it, and it was well-balanced. To be honest, this series is the gift that never ends, and as long as Elle continues to write them, I will devour every new release.

4.0 out of 5 stars solid college romance!

This was a good book! It was a pretty fast read and one I enjoyed and would recommend. Is it as good as the Graham Effect or The Deal? No. Is it a super unique plot line? No. But will it satisfy your itch for a classicly good university romance? Yes.

-Dual POV
-“playboy” persona MMC who is getting over his ex, has a “golden retriever” personality
-cheerleader/dancer FMC who has a bit of a “black cat” personality but not super intense
-fake dating turns FWB turns into real feelings
-4/5 ⭐️
-3/5????️

For me, this was missing some of the charm that Graham Effect had! Graham Effect had me invested right from the start, whereas this book was good but I could skip through a few scenes here and there.

I would love to see a best friends to lovers or childhood friends trope from Elle next! Fingers crossed!
