THE OVERNIGHT VIRAL SENSATION AND NATIONAL BESTSELLER
The bestselling phenomenon, When the Moon Hatched, is a fast-paced fantasy romance featuring an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.
The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity’s grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons. They certainly did not expect them to FALL.
As an assassin for the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve’s job is to complete orders and never get caught. When a rival bounty hunter turns her world upside down, blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself imprisoned by the Guild of Nobles—a group of powerful fae who turn her into a political statement.
Crushed by the loss of his great love, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to quell the never-ebbing ache in his chest, he is lured by a clue into the capitol’s high-security prison where he stumbles upon the imprisoned Raeve …
Echoes of the past race between them.
There’s more to their story than meets the eye, but some truths are too poisonous to swallow.
"A wild ride that thrills as much as it enchants . . . This remarkable book is an instant classic.” — Thea Guanzon, New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars
“When The Moon Hatched breathes new, beautiful life into the genre, as Sarah A. Parker weaves lyrical prose with undeniable chemistry. I laughed, I cried, I got everything out of this. It’s an absolutely stunning fantasy world that everyone should sink their teeth into.” — Raven Kennedy, internationally bestselling author of The Plated Prisoner series

I'm so impressed with the creativity she put into this book and the mythical beings are a huge testament to how much thought went into it. Parchment larks?! Are you kidding me? So precious! I wish that the fate herders were real- I'd love some fluffy creature to guide all my life decisions and not just herd me toward the treats when they are hungry.
The story is mostly told from the perspective of our FMC, Raeve, and her inner dialog is written exceptionally well. She is fierce, witty, and displays a toughness that is burying some extreme vulnerability. I really loved her character but sometimes wanted to shake her! Of course, it's always easier being on the outside looking in.
Our MMC, Kaan, swoooon ???????? I wouldn't call him grumpy, but he doesn't take what is dished out lightly. He definitely has a snap back ready for anything that anyone wants to throw at him. Part of the story is told from his point of view and we learn that he is a giant softy that is also a total bada**. Snarky in the best way and absolutely swoon worthy. Ugh! Love him so much!
The dialog and banter in this book had me cracking up, dropping my jaw, or wanting to cry.
*The soup scene had me in TEARS - I was laughing so hard (until I actually wanted to cry)*
So. Many. Emotions!!
Also, the ending.... THIS IS WHY I WAIT FOR THE SERIES TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE I READ IT!!! (Looking at you too, Plated Prisoner series- GAH!) I'm dead. I need to know what happens next!
I will say that at times it did feel a bit wordy and I found myself sort of skimming over what felt like fluff, but it didn't feel distracting. Also, Raeve's stubbornness was too much for me sometimes and I was literally shouting at my Kindle (I'm sorry for my behavior, Kindle, you are perfect and didn't deserve that.)
That being said, if this book is not on your TBR you need to add it right now! Sarah has crafted a beautiful world with amazing characters and I'm so excited for the next one!
This is what I'd consider a tender slow burn with just a dash of spice, but I was so caught up in the story, the adventure, the unknown that the said dash of spice wasn't a problem for me. Although I'm sure the next book will be a bit more. I really enjoyed Sarah's style of writing. Her use of words and ways she describes everything just had me hooked. Don't let the glossary throw you off! At first I was reading at such a slow pace because I had to keep checking it, but by chapter ten I was pretty much good.
The ROMANCE. This book is packed with delicious banter and scenes that had me kicking my feet like a little girl! Raeve, the FMC, has my heart completely and I wanted nothing more than to hug her throughout the story. She’s fierce, brave and incredibly loving of those she cares for. Kaan may be the most gentle and loving MMC I’ve come across in all the stories I’ve read. There is tension, gentleness, and passion. Tender moments in the rain and a masquerade ball are all I’ll say…The diary entries that take you back in time will have you guessing plot to come, and really enrich the overall story.
This book leaves one with the resounding feeling that we all deserve incredible and caring love despite the trauma and baggage we may carry. But we must work through it to accept that great love. BRAVO, Sarah A. Parker! I eagerly await the next chapter.
This book had the perfect breath of brevity, while keeping me gripped in it claws. I adore a kickass FMC, with a strong MMC who would put his pride at her feet to see her happy. The work satisfying, the perfect length, and truly kept my full attention- a task I’m not afraid to admit is hard. The book was light but heavy, gut wrenching, made me laugh out loud, and kick my feet in the air. Cannot WAIT for the next one!!
