About this item
After fifteen years of tending goal for the Boston Rebels, I’m known for two things: the highest save percentage in the league, and never spending more than one night with the same woman.
I’m definitely not the guy you should trust with your best friend’s little sister. Especially not when that sister, Jules, is eight years younger and my new roommate.
When I witness her on the verge of a panic attack while being intimidated by another man, I don’t think twice about calling her my fiancée and kissing her. Which brings me to the third thing I’m known for: reckless and impulsive decision-making.
After a video of that steamy kiss goes viral, the whole world is convinced we’re engaged. If we don’t play along, I risk losing my place as the starting goalie for the Rebels, and Jules’s reputation and career could tank.
Our engagement may be fake, but the memories of the way she tastes, and the feel of her body wrapped around mine, are all too real. And the more time we spend together, the less it feels like pretending.
None of the secrets from my past seem to matter as much when I’m with her. It turns out, Jules may have some secrets of her own – and uncovering them just might be what heals me…or what finally breaks me.

This book has everything you want a book to deliver. Bad boy reformed goalie, roommate tensions and vibes, and a kiss that goes viral sealing their fate.
Jules, who is not your typical FMC, runs a woman forward construction business and mentorship program. She’s an amazing aunt, sister, and friend and new roommate to her fake fiancé and life long temptation.
Colt is IMO Julia’s best MMC ever and really stands above the rest. Also you can’t tell me that goalie is not THE position on a hockey team we all crave to see!!!!! Colt is empathetic and works with Jules on her anxiety and panic attacks and is true to who he shows up as!
Hands down just an epic read that I will pull out again and again. Adding to my comfort read shelf!
There was a lot of back and forth in this book Colt really struggled with his feelings for his best friend’s little sister and once his reasons were revealed it made so much sense. Despite his hesitation, once he was in it, he was in it to win it. I loved his patience with Jules. She was determined to break him but he was unwilling to give in until he knew she was ready. It was an extremely slow burn but worth the wait. I loved their banter and their mutual pining. It was a little angsty, but perfectly written.
If you have not immersed yourself in a Julia Connors romance yet, you are MISSING OUT! And this is your sign to fix that!
Fake Shot is one of, if not THE best reformed playboy romances I’ve ever read.
Colt is golden-retriever, hockey God, reformed-playboy goodness trying so hard not to fall for his best friend’s little sister. He’s so much more than the good looks and the charm though, and for once he wants someone to see him as more than that. The only problem? That person is his now-fake fiancée and her brother would kill him.
Jules is guarded, resilient, and would do anything for her family. One dinner and one sketchy guy later, and she’s forced into close proximity with the guy responsible for her built up walls. But when Colt starts touching her when no one else is around, and saying things that make her melt, she has to decide what’s worth putting her trust in.
“Every time you try to push me away, I’m going to pull you right back. If I’m going to fall, you’re coming down with me.”
If you like forced proximity, fake fiancée , reformed playboy, all the sass, and all the spice - RUN to this book. I cannot recommend it enough!
Colt, after experiencing a devastating betrayal, has never let anyone close to him. While he apparently did notice Jules crush, he never acted on it and pretty much ignored her.
Now forced to be roommates while his condo is repaired, their emotions come rearing into play.
Very slow burn and repetitive and sometimes dragged. Jules kept pushing him to take her virginity and he kept flirting with her but refusing to take it further.
Not sure if I really connected with Jules at all. She’s portrayed as this tough, mentoring business woman but yet acts very childish in places.
Was a decent read but felt got a little too repetitive and slow.

I liked colt and Jules and how they let their relationship slowly developed. Even though they have known each other for years, they were on different planes in their life. Colt was trying to fix his past reputation and Jules was trying to trust people more while pushing ahead in her business.
There were some parts that were a bit long but overall, I love how much this couple communicated honesty with each other. A lot of books don’t have that anymore so it was refreshing. Colt was so caring and he protected her to no end. Jules was a legit bad ass with not letting anyone push her around.
This is the second book in the Boston rebel series, but it is a standalone! This book is fill high in plot while also being high in heat!
I absolutely loved Jules and Colt. These two had me giggling with their banter and gasping with their tension!
Jules is the kind of woman I want to be. Julia always writes strong women who are well established in their field and strong female friendships! Don’t let the v!rg!n FMC trope scare you away! Jules is very sure of herself, knows how to ask for what she wants when she wants it!
Colt. My man was a SIMP once he allowed himself to see Jules as more than his best friend’s sister. The way he worked to be the man Jules deserved. The way he showed up consistently for Jules every single time she needed him.
