About this item

USA Today & Amazon Top 5 best-selling author Harloe Rae delivers an unforgettable romance packed with emotion, wit, and steam. Ridge Carter’s hockey career might be over but his purpose and passion are reignited when Calliope Porter leaves her past behind to start fresh in Knox Creek...
---
This existence I’m surviving passes alongside the bars of an invisible cage.
Until one night when there’s a choice I can take.
I flee the oppressive barriers without a backward glance.

The adjustment is a steep incline.
Unknown obstacles lurk in every direction.
But those turns are part of my journey, which makes them treasures to cherish.

The most meaningful of them all is crossing paths with Ridge Carter.

The former hockey star is intimidating but irresistible.
He’s the opposite of the men I’ve been raised to fear.
Rather than restrain my newfound freedom, he shows me what it means to thrive.
That gives me the courage to wade deeper.

Ridge’s stony exterior rarely cracks, except for me.
He’s different when I’m nearby and I like that. A lot.
It has me seeking him out, but I never have to look far.

Maybe I should question his close proximity that has little to do with him living next door.
I choose to trust instead.
Ridge acts like I’m a bigger score than any goal he made on the ice.
But the experiences he’s giving me are just the beginning.

And once again, a single choice has the power to change everything.
---
Some might consider Ridge’s interest to be extreme. He’s just protecting the one he plans to make his. Permanently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ridge & Callie

What a fantastic & sweet story! I love the care Ridge takes with Callie! His obsession is adorable, too. I love Callie's unfurling feistiness as she feels more comfortable. ????

We get banter - text threads that are SO FUN! We get steam - these two have the ???????????? once they get there, after the slow burn, flirting fun. ????

We get to catch up with other beloved characters living in this world, and Harper's talent for innuendo is unmatched. Hilarious!!

Callie & Ridge are a perfect pair, & I loved & enjoyed this so much!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ridge and Callie

There were so many mysteries in this book it kept me engrossed the entire time. I wanted to know more about Callie and her childhood. I wanted to know more about Ridge and all the little things he did for Callie before she moved in next door.

It was a very low angst romance. Ridge was extremely patient with Callie, giving her time to acclimate to his obsession and to be ready for the physical aspects of a relationship. I loved their text exchanges and the way Callie rambled on. She was so open with Ridge and didn’t know how to be any different.

Ridge was such a fun mmc. He was grumpy and quiet but showed a completely different side of himself to Callie. He was still grumpy and protective, but he was also patient and thoughtful. I loved how Ridge wanted to give Callie all the experiences she’d missed out on and how much joy that brought him.

I loved Callie’s innocence. She and Ridge made such a fun couple to read.

•Grumpy Sunshine
•Virgin FMC
•Hockey
•Touch her & ☠️ vibes
•Possessive Hero

Callie is girl who lived a sheltered life in a cult. When she leaves the cult to lead a normal life, her world changes when she meets Ridge. Ridge is a GRUMPY ex hockey player who runs a bar and is quickly obsessed with Callie when he sees her. When Ridge hears that Callie has left her former life and is looking for a place to stay he takes full advantage of the situation and offers her the other side of his duplex. Things quickly heat up for the virgin FMC and the grouchy/protective MMC.

There were some really cute, cheesy parts to the story but it just went to show how naïve Callie really was is this new life she was living. I literally giggle like a school girl cuz they were so cute. & Ridge was so sweet and patient with her. I also LOVED the way Ridge was so protective over Callie and anyone messing with her or sitting in her seat ???? All in all a cute book, quick read, love the characters and would def recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute MUST Read!!

Wow. Just….wow!!! Harloe Rae has done it again!! Score on You was nothing short of AMAZING. Took me less than 24 hours to read and I’m kinda sad that it’s over :(
Callie and Ridge were just too cute and adorable. My favorite parts were all their text messages between each other. The character development for Callie was great. I loved watching her bloom and develop her confidence as the book went on. Ridge’s over the top, alpha male, possessive streak was just so swoon worthy, I’m glad I wasn’t on my feet while reading because I’m sure my knees would’ve buckled a few times. It was a slow burn but honestly, everything else was so well written that it didn’t take away from the fact that there was no “in your face spice” right from the jump. Loved the cameos that she managed to sneak in there (I see you ma’am **wink wink**) Harloe Rae is one of my favorite authors and she never disappoints. I can’t wait to see what else she comes out with. Definitely a 5-Star read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

????????PS: Yes I’m already jonesing for a new release!! ????????

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect score!

Raised in an abusive commune, Callie escapes with the help of her mother and makes a newly found friend, Harper. In the year since leaving, Calli has learned all about the modern life that she was never exposed to before and the freedom that was her human right. She still struggles with social cues and nuances and still speaks with formal language but is learning how to thrive on her own. From far away, Ridge has been watching and secretly falling in love with Callie. He’s a man of very few words, more grunts than actual vocabulary but he is completely enamored with Callie. Even though he has never had a conversation with Callie, he can’t stay away. When he finds out that Callie’s landlord has gotten into trouble and is now kicking her out, he gladly offers her the other half of his duplex so that she’d have a place to live.

Ridge is one those heroes that I will always root for. He is, without a doubt, the town grump who likes nobody and he speaks in sounds more than he actually does in words but there is just something about the bashful girl next door that turns him into absolute mush! He’s rude to everyone else but heaven forbid anyone be rude to his lady and he’s ready to fight! The difference between these two people is what makes their relationship so endearing. As someone who was raised in very different world, Callie struggles to realize that her mind, body, and being are hers alone. No one “owns” her or controls her and she will not get punished for making simple mistakes or burning dinner or just being born a female. Callie is curious and asks many questions about everything because she has not experienced so many things before. Things like a revolving door and escalators or being served dinner and drinks by a man are new to her but that makes Ridge love her even more. Their relationship starts over long text conversations before they even udder a single word to each other. Callie writes in full formal sentences that run on to paragraphs with perfect grammar and no contractions while Ridge doesn’t even bother to capitalize the start of his sentences. As their relationship grows, they each learn the value of partnership and love, even if the steps that they took to get there is far from what normally would happen. His loves opens doors to her finding confidence and assurance in herself. I am triggered a lot by bullies who purposely harm others in order to gain power and control. This young woman deserved her HEA after the things she suffered by the hands of the people who should have protected her. Ms. Rae wrote another winner.
