About this item
A tension packed, chilling story of long-awaited revenge from Top 10 Bestselling author Keri Beevis
Passion. Obsession.
Cruelty. Control...
There is no limit to how far some people will go for love.
Duncan Stone is one of the country's most eligible bachelors, and he wants to take me, Callie Parker, on a date.
At first I am surprised and flattered, the envy of my friends. Then when our whirlwind romance escalates and he asks me to move in with him, it's like a dream come true.
But as I get to really know my new boyfriend, my fairytale turns into a nightmare. Duncan is no Prince Charming. He is the Devil.
Soon, isolated from my friends and family, watched day and night, a prisoner in my own life, I know if I am going to survive, I need to escape.
When a chance encounter with an old friend throws me a lifeline, I realise this is my live or die moment, and I find a hiding place deep in the Norfolk countryside.
I'm supposed to feel safe here, so why do I hear footsteps outside my hideaway late at night, and sense that someone is watching me?
Is it paranoia, or has Duncan managed to find me? Perhaps the danger is closer to home than I realise.
The thrilling read for fans of Freida McFadden, Claire McGowan and Lisa Jewell.

This book was so easy to read.... And so difficult to read. I read it for a straight 7 hours, finishing it at 3am. It left me furious, it made me despair, it made me happy, it made my gut wrench. It deserves 3.5 stars for the story.
Callie, a 30 something professional, meets former actor turned philanthropist, Duncan Stone. He's drop dead good looking, charming and rapidly sweeps her off her feet. Callie and her rescue dog Chester, move in with him at his enormous home in rural Devon. Initially it's a dream of an existence.
But within months he's managed to distance her from her friends and her job. He constantly points out her shortfalls and how she embarrassed him in company. She's told how he chose her despite having the ability to date any supermodel or star he could have. And then the physical and mental abuse begins, unabashedly.
The story is about Callie - her spirit almost crushed - first trying to find a safe haven for her dog (who Duncan is happy to endanger to keep Callie under his control). Then encouraged to escape, by Laurel her friend from uni, Callie fakes her death and escapes.
The second part of the book is Callie making a new life far away in anonymity.... Her fears almost crippling her to start with.
And then begins the cat-and-mouse chase, with Duncan realising that Callie has escaped him....
While there were sections of the book that were difficult to read because of the abuse, the story is told well.
Highly recommended!

My fear is being set on fire but to be forced into a dog kennel so small that you have to contort your body into an agonizing position, then having it locked and having gas poured over you while your abused sits in a chair flicking a lighter tore me out of frame.
The storyline was good and I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
