About this item

From bestselling author B.B. Reid comes an unconventional romance.

I, Braxton Fawn, am the luckiest girl alive.
Or so the world keeps telling me.
Every so often, gods walk the earth. This time they came as musicians. When Bound loses its lead guitarist, yours truly is chosen to fill his shoes. From dive bars to the big stage, my instant claim to fame is nothing short of a fairytale. The only problem?
My new bandmates.
Jaded, gorgeous, and ridiculously talented—they’re determined to turn my dream into a nightmare. It’s no secret I wasn’t their first choice. I wasn’t even their last. The label wants a new image, Bound wants me gone, but I’ve got my own agenda.
To succeed I have to survive a world tour, public scrutiny, and idols turned enemies. But the biggest threat of all isn’t a meticulous front man, a narcissistic bassist, and a drummer with too many secrets.
It’s me.
Somehow, I must resist the temptation of Houston Morrow, Loren James, and Jericho Noble.
It seemed easy enough when I boarded their tour bus, but it only took one city for the lines we’d drawn to blur.
Only ninety-nine more to go.

Lilac is a reverse harem and standalone suitable for ages 18+.

This book is... I love it so much. Enemies to lovers, rockstars, reverse harem, rejection, redemption, that little religious trauma flare seemed like it was aimed at me... It's not dramatic for drama's sake like the Boys of Bellerose. It's not endlessly sad like Groupie. It's not toxic like The Words. This one really is perfect. Female empowerment, feminine strength mixed with submission. Slow, tortuous, ripping hot burn, MM scenes, relationships within the harem. This book really checks all my boxes. Welcome to the top of my contemporary romance favorites list! All the stars to Lilac!

Well done. This was my first read from b.b Reid and I’ll say I was not disappointed. I love the characters and I loved how the fml was sassy, strong, independent but still help her femininity. There really isn’t a bad thing to say. Plot was good too. Definitely would have loved more!!!!!!!! Good job author

5.0 out of 5 stars BB is beyond!!!!!!!!!

This. Book. Was. Perfection. I honestly don't know where to start. I had been waiting for this one to come out for months. I fell in love with the cover and blurb. I have tried reverse harem on multiple occasions and I always feel overwhelmed with so many characters to keep track of. So most of the time I end up DNFing them. I wanted to try this because of the rock star trope. I am a sucker for a rock star. So my journey began.
The introduction to the characters was meticulous and ensnared me immediately. The story was told from Braxton, Loren, Houston, and Jericho's POVs. It can be jarring when reading and you're thrown into another character's head. Since BB is a freaking genius the damage was nonexistent. The way she prepared readers for POV change was thoughtful, smart af, and organized. This was the first reverse harem where I felt like I could keep up. Coupled with the fact, reverse harem tropes should not be RUSHED. BB's patience with these characters was obvious and appreciated. We had time to truly get to know every single character. It was utterly amazing. That's all I ask for. When I read I want to meet new people, make new friends, and claim new boyfriends. I can't do that if the characters are one dimensional or the book is plot driven. I need character development with the plot and setting enhancing the story. That was this book. I fell in love 4 times. Yes, 4 times because I had a huge crush on the heroine. Braxton took no ish and was time enough for her menz!! The sexual tension almost took me out. I was trying to get to some sexy scenes that 1st night but my eyes had other plans. But Lort the scenes were so worth the wait. My kindle was on fire, I was clutching my pearls, and openly loving every minute. This is a long book which I loved btw. The longer I'm immersed with the characters the more in heaven I am. I actually started reading really slow towards the last 30% because I didn't want it to end. I was already a fan, but this was the best thing BB has ever written. This was THE BEST reverse harem I've ever read. I honestly don't know where to go from here. Maybe I should read it all over again?

3.0 out of 5 stars taste your feelings and seeing sounds…

3.5/5.0 This book was strange and readable, but longer than it needed to be.

Almost immediately, the FL (Braxton) describes her feelings in situations as tastes, flavors, and scents. It was strange and I went back to check that I had caught what was being put down, but the author uses flavors as Braxton’s cues to how she feels. I won’t dive into that more, it plays into the plot later in the book, but that is there. You could create a chart of correlating tastes or flavors to feelings that would remain consistent for the whole story.

Also along this avenue of strange, is Braxton’s seeing colors attributed to sounds. This wasn’t as developed as the taste thing, but again you’ll read that and ask yourself, what? It is there.

This book is very readable. The dialogue is just ok but the split POVs are done well. I had no issue following the events, action, internal angst, or anything. The tropes are many and mighty, enemies to lovers and a reverse harem tension dynamic being the two main ones, which fit into the touring band setting easily. The setting of on the road and concert venues was good and the author did some song writing to help round out the umbrella under which they characters all interact. The writing style effectively tells the story.

I think there a little more “in between” filler than was needed. Less detail and rehashing of background, prior events and characters, outside factors that lead to current events, and even some unnecessary sex scenes that served no plot device at all, would have made this book shorter. This information might not have been completely vital, some of it was good to know, and all of it could have been written in a tl;dr way. I did get to a point where I was skimming though parts, just catching the overriding take away, rather than be bogged down in the minutiae.

In this same sphere, there could have been more about Braxton’s sex addiction and recovery. It was used to further the story, and to the advantage of the three ML (Houston, Lenon, and Jericho), but it was never really addressed as an addiction, or portrayed with with as much concern as the drug and alcohol addictions of other characters. I think that it could have been handled more respectfully, and to show what recovery might look like. Braxton carried the most trauma of all the characters and was really never fully supported or helped.

I cannot remember if I have read other books from this author, I think I have and that’s how I found this one. I will probably look for more by BB Reid to try.
