IN DEVELOPMENT AS THE ORIGINAL SERIES SCARPETTA STARRING NICOLE KIDMAN AND JAMIE LEE CURTIS

Thwarting an attack by a suspected serial killer has inconceivably put Virginia’s Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta in the harsh glare of the spotlight. As her personal and professional lives come under suspicion, she discovers that the so-called Werewolf murders may have extended to New York City and into the darkest corners of her past. A formidable prosecutor, a female assistant district attorney from New York, is brought into the case—and Scarpetta must struggle to make what she knows to be the truth prevail against mounting and unnerving evidence to the contrary. Tested in every way, she turns inward to ask,
Where do you go when there is nowhere left?

Another excellent read from Cornwall! I am never disappointed in her writings and have real enjoyed the Scarpetta Series so far! This one was extremely suspense filled, with strong characters and storyline. A lot of twist and turns made it very difficult to put down! A must read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars keep your friends close and enemies closer

Wow, Scarpetta is always a thriller and this is certainly thrills and chills all the way. Never disappoints. How well do we know those around us that we trust, Scarpetta and posse are still finding turn coats, malfeasant planners, scheming enemies at every cup of coffee, offer of assistance, kindness. Those shaded kindnesses blow up in your face, litterly and figuratively, open this up and see.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must read Black Notice recently to enjoy

This plot won't make sense unless you read Black Notice and it's fresh in your mind. The plot is heavy. I enjoyed it, but I'm still putting it all together after finishing it. Intense.

It was the objective manner that forensics was used to provide accurate descriptions that turned me away. But I read on to try to understand the story behind this gruesome manner. Brilliantly the author tied up the story in an exciting way that took me away from the horrors and made it a superb novel.

Another good read in this series..but I've also was confused by conflicting story lines...for instance..Marino says I wasn't at your house the full time police were investigating then a few paragraphs \chapters later he says I saw every one who came in and out of your house...so no consistency in some of the story lines, but all in all it's a good read.

I enjoy how Cornwell maintains a cohesive progression of Scarpetta’s career and her friends, family and adversaries. Each new case builds on history from her previous cases.

I read this when it was first published, over twenty years ago. It's nice being reacquainted with Dr. Kay Scarpetta, along with Pete Marino, Lucy Farinelli, and all the other "regulars."
The storyline is solid and really creepy, the characters are believable and well described. There are some slow parts that are just a bit wordy....but all in all, a good book!
