About this item

When two cross-country cases collide, Bree Taggert and Mercy Kilpatrick join forces to catch a serial killer in an addictive novel of suspense by bestselling authors Melinda Leigh and Kendra Elliot.

During a vicious heat wave, a county maintenance worker stumbles upon two suspicious suitcases abandoned by the side of the road. Sheriff Bree Taggert responds to find two bodies stuffed inside the luggage. The press demands action. The community is on edge. Suddenly, Bree is at the center of a media firestorm.

In Oregon, a senator’s daughter goes missing. FBI Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick agrees to keep the politically sensitive case on the down-low. When she finds a link between the disappearance and a double homicide three thousand miles away, Mercy takes the next plane out—and lands right in the middle of Bree’s double homicide investigation.

To save the missing girl, Bree and Mercy must work together to stop a killer who’s playing deadly games with the press and stirring up public rage. Hungry for notoriety, he dares Bree and Mercy to catch him before he kills again.

I have followed Mercy and Brew for years and to have them brought together like this was spectacular! The two authors blended seamlessly to create a story of suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. They make you feel as if you are right there with them, your heart beats so fast that I was exhausted after reading the last few chapters. Excellent work!! Thoroughly enjoyed!!

Mercy Kilpatrick and Bree Target meet up to capture a serial killer. Both female, strong law enforcement figures, the killer didn’t know what he had chasing him! This book has lots of action & disturbing incidences that makes you wonder just how a person can be that sick. But Kendra Elliott and Melinda Lee never fail to deliver and superb story! The narrator also an excellent job. Don’t miss out on this book!

I have enjoyed reading Ms Leigh and Ms Elliot individually for years. When I saw this collaboration I was excited to see what it was about. It was terrific! It had a lot of moving parts, but it wasn’t so convoluted that you couldn’t keep the characters straight. These small towns certainly do have their share of serial killers. When the police pair with the FBI to bring down the perpetrators, you would think they could put their rivalry on hold and concentrate on solving the mystery. But alas, the women step up to save the day. No matter how much it takes, they attack each case as if it was the only one. While the men are posturing and posing for status and bragging rights, the women just get it done. It’s nice to see we get our due. Filled with adventure and many plot twists, it will keep you guessing until the end. Read and enjoy!
