The Marriage Auction
Enter the world of a secret auction for the wealthy. Bidders can buy a willing marriage partner for the next three years and the contestants get $3 million… minimum. What would push these young women to sign over themselves and the next three years of their lives for money? Let’s find out!
Read if you like: contemporary romance, arranged marriage, multiple POV, small town romance, destination romance, weddings, enemies to lovers, love triangles, love at first sight, anything for family, cowboy romance, she’s mine, face melting spice, and a variety of MMCs and FMCs all who have to answer to the owner of the auction.
**Please check the content warnings.** While there is no violence in the romantic relationships there are explicit scenes of abuse past and present. Please, prioritize your mental health before you begin this journey.
The Marriage Auction is an exclusive event. Only the wealthiest and most sensible can attend. Madam Alana protects her candidates as well as she can from the world most eligible rich. The candidates are also chosen with care. Each one in need of a different future yet vulnerable to the hope of money and security. Where will the candidates find themselves after the auction is over? And with whom?
In Season 1 of The Marriage Auction we follow 4 young women who enter the auction hoping to secure their futures… their reasons are as different as themselves. How will this group of sweet, sassy, and strong women fair when they are about to be whisked off by their new intendeds? Only time will tell. They have only each other and Madam Alana to count on, but will their pasts catch up with them before they can settle into their new lives? And will the most surprising thing of all happen? Will they all find love or will the only reward be their cash prize. You will encounter surprise after surprise as the paths that lead our candidates and bidders to the auction are revealed.
I ADORE this series. This is the most fun thing I’ve read in a long time. I wasn’t sure what to expect since the premise is hard to explain. The stories are classic but with fun twists. Think super edgy Bachelor meets Love Is Blind romance but with all the drama you want from a soap opera or reality TV. Since this was written as a periodical and the episodes were originally published one at a time, the story constantly switches between POVs. This switching adds a lot to the anticipation and scope of the narrative yet doesn’t detract from the story.
When we started getting the men’s POVs I squealed. I was so afraid that the men would be a bunch of creeps, and while some are intense, Madam Alana would not allow anyone with bad intentions to enter her auction. The women are all fun and different and it’s fantastic seeing them all navigate this intensely dramatic situation. The only negative is that there are a lot of stereotypical names and themes that show up in the characters and writing. I wish there was a little more nuance with these aspects so I wasn’t shaking my head going… of course their named _____ and do _____. But on the flipside, it makes it easy to keep track of tall the characters when you know what you’re getting up front. I couldn’t give up on these crazy, fictional couples if I wanted to… and I don’t! Make sure you grab all 4 books of Season 1 of The Marriage Auction… you’re gonna need at least 1 & 2 because that cliffhanger leaves you gasping!
Thank you too 1001 Dark Nights for providing an ARC for my honest review.

good and here’s what I’d change

I would give it four stars but it’s so odd how the author describes and singles out in a bad way the two characters of color. It’s another example of superficial “diversity “. Interesting storyline though and easy read. I almost wish there were one or two less marriages so she could go into more depth on each story. At the same time there’s a little over explanation at times. Worth the read though!

Never in my wildest imagination would I ever think about getting married for money. Each of the participants had their reasons for being a part of the auction.. I liked how lives of each is explained and all of the interactions build.
