5.0 out of 5 stars Easy on the hands juicer.

This is leaps and bounds better than those cheap juicers at the grocery store. I love making limeade/leomonade and after squeezing a few I could feel it in my hands. This one is great, a lot of juice comes out but I don’t feel like I’m putting a lot of effort to do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very effective juicer

This juicer is very thorough and effective in extracting the juice from limes. It is easy to clean and made very well. It is very easy to grip and use even for my arthritic hands that don't have much grip strength.

5.0 out of 5 stars My last juicer snapped in my hand, and was a pain to use. This one is so much easier.

I had a cheap plastic standard juicer before this one and was squeezing limes to make a pitcher of margaritas, and after number 9 or 10 with some pretty hefty squeezes, the plastic handle snapped, I almost cracked our nice glass pitcher I was juicing into, and I got a laceration on my thumb.

We were at a party at someone else's house and they let me use theirs (which was this one) and it was so much easier. This unit is geared and has much longer/sturdier handles, so it doesn't take much effort at all to squeeze every drop of juice out of a lemon/lime/orange. I immediately got on my phone and bought my own, and haven't looked back.

This particular one (the orange one) is quite large, and can't fit in the drawer like the old one does, but the ease of use of it is worth putting it somewhere else in the kitchen. I can't explain in words how much easier this is to use than one of the cheaper ones without gears (especially the plastic versions).

5.0 out of 5 stars Really does the job

I juice lemons and limes for lots of my recipes, and this juicer is perfect. Gets all of the juice out with minimal pressure, which is excellent for my arthritic hands. It's easy to clean and store (fits nicely in a utensil drawer). It says that it prevents seeds from getting in the juice, and that is not quite true - an occasional small seed slips through, but I either don't worry about it, or easily fish it out.

We bought this juicer to replace the ubiquitous all metal powder coated juicers (lemon and lime) we had for years. The old juicers were beginning to lose their powder coating and the pot metal was exposed to the juice. This is a problem because most pot metal contains lead which can leach into acidic solutions like citrus juice. This device has a more complex construction and attempts to use compound leverage and a gear/rack to do a better job at juicing. It somewhat succeeds at this in that I find it very easy to use and it requires little force on the handles to extract the juice. The parts that come in contact with your juice are either nylon plastic or chromed metal (probably pot metal). I don't put mine in the dishwasher every time, but instead hand wash it and carefully clean the acidic oils and liquids off the chrome part so it will last longer. Yes, as many have pointed out, you do have to sometimes use both hands to start a squeeze. And yes, do be careful with exerting too much force on the handles - I can easily see this being a point of failure. One thing I should note about juicing: squeezing the living daylights out of a lime or lemon is NOT the best way to go. When you squeeze citrus too hard, the extremely bitter oils in the skin are extracted in greater quantity resulting in very harsh tasting juice. If you are just doing some stupid cleanse BS and don't care about subtleties of taste and flavor, then by all means pankcake the crap out of your citrus. If however, you want just juice that is bright and appropriately limey or lemony, then squeeze carefully and stop before the skin begins to give up all that oil. Which bring us back to this Chef'n juicer. Because the handles do flex a bit it lets you avoid over squeezing. When the "piston" reaches the end of its travel and the handles start to flex then STOP - you are done and your juice is perfect. Did it get every last molecule of juice out of that poor half lime? No, but it did extract the best tasting juice and that is what most normal people want.

So what do we have here? We have a juicer that has succeeded for the most part in making juicing more effective and easier. It extracts very tasty juice when used properly. The shortcomings are actually a result of Chef'ns attempt to improve the process. The mechanism has plastic parts that can, will and do fail. They had to use plastic to keep the product affordable. Does the juicer fail if you use it carefully? I don't know, but I'll get back to you on that. Do I recommend this juicer? Yes I do, but be aware what you are buying.

Update 02/26/21 : Still using this juicer at least once a week. No issues that alter performance. There is a little bit of gunk collected around a hinge pin but it is not in contact with the juice and is strictly cosmetic. We do not put it in the dishwasher as I feel that would shorten it's' life. This is a very good juicer for lemons and limes and if you treat it nice it will last a long time

5.0 out of 5 stars I finally look forward to fresh squeezed Lime / Lemon for the first time in my life!

I love lime. I love it in my marinades, I love it in many of my soups, too. But, I always hated squeezing my own on one of those old fashion juicers. No more! This tool is among the very best kitchen utensils I've ever owned or used next to my knives and my garlic press. This juicer is superb and will extract every bit of precious juice from your limes or lemons, even those little tiny hard barley ripe ones we so often have to settle for at the grocery store. It just works. Perios. You slice the fruit in half, open the tool, put one half of the fruit (peel side down) then close the tool and squeeze. The ratcheting feature will ensure you waste no juice at all. Then you pop it open, peel the remaining fruit off the tool and discard (or add to potpourri dish) and repeat for remaining half of fruit. Once you have all the juice you need, rinsing the tools well under the tap couldn't be easier. It now ready for the next time. It's heavy construction from high quality materials make this a fantastic tool for any kitchen. Strongly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and reliable

We really like to squeeze limes and lemons on a daily basis. Unfortunately standard juicers were hard to get adequate pressure across the different sizes of fruit. We also had issues with rivets breaking and didn't like the necessity of having multiple juicers, sized to accommodate limes vs lemons. This Juicer is a one size fits all that has a gear mechanism that makes juicing a pleasure. It's easy to clean and heavy duty. It's the only juicer I would buy and would highly recommend it to friends and family.

It is made from very strong material. The handle is long, giving me lots of leverage. You have to read the instructions first because it is not intuitive to place the lemon skin side up. But this product is totally worth it, It makes great Lemonade.
