5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my ember cup!!

I absolutely love my ember mug. I use it twice everyday in the morning and evening for my tea. So imagine my horror when I saw that the mug was not charging properly! I did a quick Amazon search and found this ember charger replacement and I bought it immediately. It is just as good as the one that came with my original ember. It charges my mug properly so that it keeps my tea warm for all of my morning activities (ok let’s be honest…for the entirety of the today show ????). If your ember mug charger has gone kaput, this is the perfect replacement!

Got an Ember cup as a gift about 18 months ago. Worked great until it stopped charging properly. Had to fiddle around by twisting and pressing the cup down on the charging base. Upon close inspection, I noticed the little pins on the base were no longer in good condition.
This new charging base solved the problem 100%.

5.0 out of 5 stars I hate the need for a replacement

It appears that the Ember base has a life of just over one year with careful use. I have had to replace my base twice each after 15 months of use. There is obviously a design weakness in the spring-loaded contacts that I wish Ember would rectify. The product is brilliant but needing to replace the base every year is not. Also, why can't Ember just sell the base as I now have two redundant charging adapters that I will have to dispose of. Not an environmentally good thing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought as a replacement

I bought my first Ember mug in February 2021. The base finally quit on me a couple weeks ago. One of the charging pins broke. The pins seem to be spring-loaded, and one of the springs must have broken - so one pin no longer made contact with the charging ring on the mug.

My Ember mug has become a true guilty pleasure. They’re stupidly expensive — but I do love mine. When my base finally failed I didn’t hesitate to buy a replacement.

After making my purchase I wrote to Ember and asked if I could send them my old broken base so they could recycle it. Sadly, they don’t do that, they instead advised me to take it to an eWaste drop off. They also offered to send me a replacement base even though I’m sure I’m out of warranty. If you’re considering buying a replacement base unit I’d advise you to contact ember customer support first.

4.0 out of 5 stars I sure hope this lasts longer than my first

My wife bought me an Ember mug for Christmas in 2021. Towards the end of 2022, not even a year later, I noticed that the battery on my mug only lasted for a couple minutes. I had to keep it on the coaster or it would die very quickly. I noticed one of the pins on the coaster had mostly fallen into the base. I looked it up and found this to be a very common issue. I took mine apart and looked to see if I could repair it but it was beyond my capabilities.
It is very dissappointing that Ember would have such an issue with this tiny little pin. I give four stars because it works right now and I can use my mug again like normal. It actually charges my mug and the battery will last an hour or so. If this one fails as quickly as the first one, I will be done with Ember. I will not spend $30 every nine months or so to have a battery powered mug. I can use the same $30 to buy a nice ceramic mug and a plug-in warmer and be just as happy. I cannot give five stars because my $130 mug just turned into a $160 mug.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cup is great, charger is junk
Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2024
I’ve purchased two Ember cups (with chargers) and now two ADDITIONAL chargers. The first free charger base had one of the small, spring loaded copper pins corrode and then break off. The replacement charger base now has one of the spring loaded copper pins that won’t pop up anymore - apparently a broken spring, so it’s useless. Since the cups are entirely dependent on these charger bases, this cup is now useless - what a joke (with a terrible punch line)!
