First off, I'll note that it came in a cute "gift" box (pictured). It arrived in perfect condition. The cord is permanently attached, so it's just plug and go. It also just looks and feels really nice: the corrugated surface texture looks classy, and the buttons are the "touch" type that don't actually move, so there are no contacts to wear out. There is a very easy-to-read LED readout that indicates the set temperature (F only, C not available), or the timer setting for 2 seconds after you touch the timer button.
It takes only 3 seconds to get warm, and only 3 more to get hot. It has 3 temperature ranges -- warm, nice and hot, and really hot, and does a very good job of keeping whatever you put on it at the selected level. Note that, although the digital readout says a specific temperature, it really will just maintain a range of about 15 degrees (F) up to that temperature. This is, IMHO, not worth caring about, but if it offends your OCD, maybe you should pick a different warmer.
It really works: with a full mug, or even with a small amount of liquid, it kept it at the selected temperature. I even put lukewarm coffee in a very thick-bottomed glass mug on it, and on the high setting, it made it hot in about half an hour. I'm sure it would have been a lot faster in a ceramic mug with a normal bottom (but I don't have one at the office).
There are some less-important things I'm not so crazy about: it does not shut off if the mug is removed (though the manual says it does, but I tested for over an hour), and also the shortest setting for the timer is 2 hours, though of course you can turn it off anytime by touching the button. (By default, it will turn itself off after 4 hours, but you can select 2–12 hours.) Also, since the cover is silicon, it gets hot after a minute or two, but that's just what silicon does -- it has a heat warning embossed on it, and it's really just to protect the heater, which it does well. But really, these are just quibbles, and I'm just mentioning them in case one of them is somehow important to you. Overall, I'm very happy with it, and I smile when I put my mug on it.
