Bought 3 pints of locally grown cherries to put in the freezer. Looked up various ways to pit cherries without a tool. Tried one but very tedious. So after reading some reviews I bought this one. Works very well but do be prepared for some juice to squirt. I wore an apron and worked over my kitchen trash bin so clean up was very minimal. I doubt there is any method for working with cherries that will avoid the juice issue. This kitchen gadget is simple and just requires a rinse to clean it.

This cherry pitter is light-weight and easy to use. It took me a few seconds to figure out how to open it, using that little ring at the rear end of it. I only gave 4 stars to "easy to use" because I have to really clamp down with both hands to push out the pit. Someone with weaker hands might have trouble with that. one more thing I noticed is that there is a cleaner exit for the pit if you give the pitter one really hard squeeze. If you sort of squeeze, then the exit hole is ragged. I really like this gadget and use it all the time during the cherry season.

I use to hate pitting cherries so I seldom bought fresh ones. This thing works great and the price is wonderful. Cherry pies are next! I highly recommend.

I’ll admit, I thought these were ridiculous and resisted the urge to buy one for years. So of course I’d have kids who love fresh cherries but aren’t quite old enough to manage the pits. After spending half of my life slicing and hand pitting cherries, I desperately went online to buy the OXO one my mom frequently raves about, but they couldn’t deliver it until next week and I had a bag of cherries in the fridge that needed to be eaten immediately! This one is cheaper and could be delivered in less than a day-bingo! I tried it and I. Am. Shocked. It is so easy to use, almost soothing. The best part is that my 9-year-old can use it and thinks it is fun, so now I don’t have to be involved in cherries ever again. Except eating them, which is infinitely more pleasurable without the excruciating task of removing the pits. Bring on the cherries! Definitely recommend getting this if you ever buy cherries. It does spatter the juice a bit, but the kid just does it in the sink and has a bowl for the pits and a bowl for the cherries. We’ve used it several times in the last week, so worth it.

I decided to get a cherry pitter because cherries are in season and my 3 year old daughter wanted to try them. But getting the pit out was such a pain and the cherries were destroyed. With this though, it's so quick and easy. It gets the pit out without destroying the cherry and doesn't take all the flesh with it. Super easy to clean. Works so well! Not really sure what else I would use it for but I'm happy to keep it a seasonal tool in my kitchen.
