5.0 out of 5 stars Actually works!
Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2024
I have had three sets of these cups. One for the office and a replacement in the house. I like the cup and it does keep my coffee hot, for a while. It comes set for 135 degrees and I like my coffee at 140. So the battery does not last as long. I usually get a half hour or a little more. Having to talk to my coffee cup through an app is a pain in the a** for an old person. The manual says that the coffee stays hot if left on the cup holder. I have never found this to work. The cup holder has been difficult for all the cups I have had, and I have had these for several years. The little pins in the holder have never been good quality and it is usually necessary to finick around with the cup to make sure it is charging. Handling two cups is difficult as the application is poorly designed and does not accommodate this feature. OVERALL, this is a great innovation. Over time, the batteries will get better and the manufacturer will learn how to put the controls inside the cup and dispense with the app. I gave it five stars and it rates five stars. Remember, this is a technology in its infancy and while a significant advance, it has not matured. The price is about double what it should cost. However, the cheaper competition is way behind. Bite the bullet and pay for the best of the available products, Ember.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ember vs Nextmug vs warmer *update*

*update* !! The mug still works awesome and I’m super happy with it…PLUS…I discovered that my yeti travel cover fits in it!!! This extends the 80 mins of heat to MOST OF THE DAY (at 120F) if you can get ahold of a travel lid then you’ll love it even more!!!

I tried out Ember, Nextmug and a coffee cup warmer. I chose Ember and here's why:

(For context I am a busy mom and I drink one cup of coffee per day. I tend to sip on that cup all morning long. I like to bring it around the house with me, often settling in one area for long periods (like to do a craft or do computer).

I chose the Ember mug and here's why not the others:

1) The warmer- I couldn't bring the mug around the house with me, it had to always stay on the warmer. Also, as I drank the coffee down, it got hotter and hotter (less to heat). I had to keep turning the warmer down. Twice I forgot I left the warmer on and left the house and it stayed on all day. The warmer was also very hard to clean if you got a ring on it because it gets baked on. Literally I could not get the ring stain off. Lastly, the coffee tastes super gross after a few hours. Not sure why...but the heat from the bottom does something to it.

2) Nextmug - I didn't like the shape of the mug. It looks deep but actually half of the mug is the heating element so it's not deep. Mine kept shutting off randomly, like within 10 mins of setting it, maybe it was defective? It also seemed to get hotter as the liquid became less like the warmer did.

3) Ember - immediately I could see the temp on the app as soon as the liquid hit the cup, which I thought was NEAT! It turns its self on automatically when the coffee is put in it and goes to the last setting you set it at. It keeps it at that exact temperature regardless of how much is left in the cup (yay!). Thus it never overheats the coffee and the coffee stays delicious. I can take it all around the house and it is sturdy, looks cool and is nice and deep. It does shut off a lot sooner (from inactivity) than others, BUT it heats back up again surprisingly quick, so I'll take it.

Others have voiced connectivity issues. I have an iphone14 pro and it hasn't had any trouble yet, but I just got it.

For the record I was hoping I could control it via the app even when I wasn't home (like turn it on and off remotely) but it doesn't work that way. Since it's bluetooth and not wifi controlled you have to be near it for it to work.

Good luck friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Thing Ever!

My daughter bought this for me. At first I thought it was silly. But as soon as I used it I was hooked. I got one for my husband and he got one for his daughter-in-law. We are all happy with it. It keeps the coffee (or tea/hot chocolate) warm for a very long time. And if you are someone, like me, who likes to take their time and sip their coffee, you will really appreciate this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes my work coffee so much better

This is one of those things that I never would have purchased for myself, but after receiving one as a gift, I ended up buying one for someone else as well. Although travel mugs will keep your coffee hot, it's simply not the same as drinking out of an actual mug. The Ember mug is great - truly does keep your coffee at the perfect temperature until the last sip. I don't even use the app; the default setting was spot on.

4.0 out of 5 stars With an Apple phone. App Works, but, heat is not for more than 1 hour
Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2024
Works well, but not for more than 1 hour , even with full charge. If you have 2 oz or less in the mug, the temperature does not hold, the automatic shut-off kicks in, and your last 2 sips are cold. Easy to set up, charges quickly. The box the mug came in says it’s a 10 oz, to get a 10 oz drink you have to literally fill the mug to the “rim”… ideally you can only get an 8 oz size drink… the manufacturer should not market this as a 10oz mug… DOES NOT WORK IF U HV AN ANDROID PHONE, AS THE APP DOES NOT WORK AND MUG CANT BE USED WITHOUT THE APP. …. This Ember mug versus a Muggo mug : with the Muggo, if used while plugged in maintains the heat for as long as it is plugged in, so literally, my last sip is very hot as the first sip. That plugged in option for use is not available with the Ember mug.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad to have a working Ember again!
Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024
My old Ember was just not working....was very difficult to charge as one of the little prongs on the charging base was pressed in and would not pop back up. Kept watching both Amazon and Ember sites and finally saw a great sale on Amazon...thank you....so ordered right away. Received quickly and all is good...enjoying hot coffee again. Do have to say though that the Ember brand is very delicate and malfunctions easily. My old Ember needed to have charging base replaced - same prong problem and the mug needed replacing. Both were done by Ember without too much hassle....they were helpful. I treat my Ember very very gently following all the guidelines. Hoping that this one will last a few years without any problems. Do like and enjoy this product.
