5.0 out of 5 stars Cyclists read on!

This baby makes perfect rice every time, I have 2 of them, one for rice, and one for, wait for it, waxing the chains of my bike. So if you're a cyclist, read on, the food part has already been covered.

Slow cookers are, well, slow, which I've read is better for not cooking the wax of the chain and allegedly damaging it. I use the rice cooker because it heats up faster. Basically, I thread my chain through an old spoke, set it on top of my already hardened wax in the pot. Flip the cook switch to cook (not warm), and let it go. As soon as it's liquid enough that I can swish around, I flip it to warm, proceed with the swish, maybe a swirl, maybe I reverse the swirl, take the chain out, drip off what I can back into the pot, hold the chain from the spoke over a rag for a minute or two, then set it down on a clean rag to cool. Once cool, back on the bike it goes. Happy days.

I have let it cook too long, and the wax did bubble. I'm guessing this could end badly if you let it go too long, so don't do that. I also don't know enough about wax and the additives in the wax to know if it is in fact damaging it, but it seems just fine on my many bikes that cost more than they should. I get 4k-5k miles out of a chain before my checker says to replace it, which I'm fine with considering I ride in all weather, not just dry road conditions where people are reporting 8k+ miles.

So if you're impatient and don't mind the potential risk of scalding your wax, the rice cooker is great. Right when it liquifies, turn it off and do your waxing, seesm fine for me.

I recently purchased this small rice cooker, and it has been one of the best investments I’ve made in my kitchen. Despite being inexpensive, it cooks my rice perfectly every time. The compact size makes it easy to store, even in a small kitchen. If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable rice cooker, this one is definitely worth the buy!

We own two of these in our household. One in use for years, so I added one for my private kitchen.

I only cook rice with it, and at this price point, I see no way to justify those $100+ cookers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heats up and cooks fast

So I used my rice cooker for the first time yesterday.
The good is that it heats up fast and does a great job cooking the rice.
And the cleanup is very minimal.
Now the bad… it’s very hard to see the liquid line markers on the bowl insert .
Yes I’m 65 and my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be but with the color of the Teflon coating it’s just difficult to see.
The other thing I noticed was that when the cooker stops cooking and goes into warm mode, take the rice out because if you leave it in there the rice on the bottom will burn. I had mine unplugged and some of the rice burned. So the simple thing is to take your rice out and you’ll be a happy camper.
I give it a 4 star leaning to a 5 because it makes great rice.
Hope this helps someone…
