I’ll update if things go bad… but this kit has everything. I’m not a beginner, and had low expectations… but the instrument is nice! Blue-teal color, good craftsmanship, and it plays very well and sounds fantastic for a beginner instrument.
It includes a padded backpack/handled gig bag with a small pocket. My only complaint is the flat pocket can’t hold all the accessories they send!! But they do include a little drawstring pouch to hold it all.
It came with everything shown in the ad plus a cleaning cloth and string to adapt the strap so you can tie it to the base of the headstock. The wall hanger is adjustable in size and can hold anything you want if you trust the drywall anchors it comes with. It’ll certainly hold this mandolin or a ukulele or acoustic guitar. The picks are for guitars but a beginner won’t know better. They work if you aren’t used to the mandolin ones.
I thought the tuner would be crap but it is nice too. Doesn’t scratch the finish. Mine was missing the promised battery, but the instructions say the battery included is just to see that it works… so have a CR2023 on hand either way. It says put it in the correct direction but didn’t say what that was…. Positive out… I included a photo to help others. The screen is blue usually and turns green when you are in tune (to any note, so get it close first). Nice touch so you don’t have to look so hard doing the fine tuning. It us chromatic so you can use it for any instrument.
You need to tune it when it arrives. And it’ll take a few passes (took me three), but this is normal. As you tighten the strings, it’ll move the bridge and the other strings change tension and you need to go back again (and again). They send it with the strings a bit loose to not warp the neck. But so far mine has held tune with all the original parts.
I’m impressed given the very low cost. Unless you are looking for a professional instrument, this is great for beginners or practice while traveling.
