5.0 out of 5 stars Ha some have said you have to do extra.

First, yes you have to put the bridge on and it even comes with the instructions. Second, while the rosin was busted it was still serviceable. Last but not least, since I am not an expert by any means with this gorgeous instrument, I seriously paid 26 dollars at my local music store to have them put the bridge on and tune it for me. This amazing and gorgeous violin cost all together maybe 80 dollars, so.. sorry, NOT SORRY, this is a steal! You can honestly put it together yourself with the instructions included, and have it ready to rock for whomever ever it is destined for. My daughter is going to be head over heels for this amazing and affordable work of art! Beautiful sound, amazing quality and all for a fraction of the price for some of the others. Absolutely an amazing violin and would buy another if any of my other kids or family wanted one!

I had to return this violin for several reasons. However, I didn't have any issues with the return process. I was fully refunded within an hour or 2 of dropping it off for UPS to take.
Now, as far as the violin goes; it looked really nice, but it was made of the wrong kinds of wood. When you would try to tune it the tuning pegs wouldn't stay where you put them or stay as tight. So by the time you got done tuning you would have to start all over again because they won't stay. On a good violin those tuning pegs are made of ebony wood. The pegs on this violin were made of some other type of wood and then painted black to make it look like ebony. That is why they don't stay when you turn them. I know it says that it's a violin for beginners, but I wouldn't waste the time or energy buying this violin. It isn't even good enough for a beginner. It's so much better to just rent one vs. buying this one. Even for a beginner it's no fun playing when you sound horrible. Especially when there is nothing you can do to fix it. In my town we have a rental shop and while they do have all of the beautiful and expensive violins to choose from they also started working with a company that is making less expensive violins. They started doing that specifically to combat violins like this. Their are so many people buying these to try and save a few bucks, but really they're just wasting their own time and money. It took me buying one and taking it to my local musical instrument shop before I realized just how bad they are. I hope that by sharing my experience it will save, at least a few of you, from making the same mistake I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars My husband LOVED it

I got this as a Christmas present for my husband who played violin in highschool so I got this so he could relearn how to play it. I've seen some good quality violins and this one is definitely one of them. It's so beautiful and doesn't feel cheap at all. Please note the bridge is NOT broken and is supposed to be unattached when it arrives. And no, you don't have to unstring it to attach the bridge. (My husband did and I'm still making fun of him for it. Lol)

I am happy to have this violin. It took a lot of effort to get the violin set up, and it needs to be retuned very often. At first I thought I wasn't going to be able to use it because I couldn't get it to stay in tune, and the bridge kept popping off. But with effort and some fiddling (no pun intended) with the tuning pegs, I got it to stay in tune long enough for a practice session at least. You just need to get the bridge positioned properly and it won't pop off any more. I also should note that I quickly broke two of the strings in the first couple days, but I've learned that it's surprisingly easy to string a violin. Still, it would help to have a few additional spare sets of strings because a newbie breaks them pretty often I imagine, especially when you constantly have to retune. Pretty soon I'll probably break the remaining strings and need to buy new ones.

I was a bit disappointed that the shipping took two days longer than it said because I needed it ASAP. But it shipped fairly quickly. I am a beginner and it's my first violin, but to me it sounds surprisingly good. It's fun to learn the basics with. Obviously if you're going to stick with it you'll want to buy something better before long, as I hope to do.

3.0 out of 5 stars A few headaches but worth the investment for beginners

The value for the price is definitely not bad. The only thing I would recommend before buying is knowing the strings are thinner than they should be which gave the violin a really funky sound so I had to get new strings put on ($20). I also had to purchase a new rosin block because the one they gave is a joke and cannot be used. Last, probably the biggest frustration was that the bridge had no grooves so I had to travel all over town to find someone who would do it. Luckily, I did. Other than those headaches, it’s a great starter violin!

Longtime guitarist, I bought a cheap violin because I don't know if I'll stick with it. After setting up the bridge and spacing the strings, it took a while to get enough rosin on the bow for it to even make a sound. But a few hours later, I am making real progress. This thing is a hoot! The violin and case seem well-made. Just remember this is a beginner's instrument. Comes with rosin and extra set of strings. I love it!
This doesn’t come close to fitting a cat. Measurement is the smallest is 12 inches to 15 inches . I have another cat a main coon and it slides right off
