5.0 out of 5 stars The most fun instrument you can get for such an unbeatable price

I'm primarily a guitarist with only a little keyboard experience, but the melodica is a riot to play, surprisingly good in the mix with a small acoustic jam, and has improved my piano/keyboard skills a little too.

The only instrument I've had that's more entertaining is an Otamatone, and the melodica is both cheaper and more competent as an actual instrument.

I chose the Eastrock over other versions because of the more rigid carrying case, and I'm very happy with both the case and instrument. The only improvement I'd like to see would be that a bit longer mouthpiece for playing with the keyboard on your lap. Otherwise it's truly excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars It came more in tune than any melodica I have ever owned, including back in the 90s!

10 years ago, I bought a similar instrument from Honer, the same number of keys. I did so because back in the 90s when I played these before, Honer was the top dog. For good reasons. I should’ve been more like the millennials and done better research. Love you guys for bringing these instruments back, by the way! This piece here, though, amazingly in tune. I really like the recorder style mouthpiece, unlike the Honer, it does not have that slight curve, which is more aesthetic.
The response time is ridiculously fast. I played a couple of really slow tunes and a couple of fast jigs and some fast scales and arpeggios just to work it through its paces. For reference, by profession, I am a keyboardist pianist, and have been performing professionally for over 30 years. Unlike many of the awesome Youtubers, I am not a professional melodica player. The articulation is on point. You will find a little bit of wet tuning if you play octaves in the middle of the registers. I say, wet tuning, because it’s not so far off as to be sour.
That being said, I did chromatic chords, all the way up the instrument. And there was not one that sounded sour. I obviously threw the stickers away, but they might be useful to somebody who can see them. I’m completely blind, but I already know how to play keyboards obviously. It comes with two of the mouthpieces and two tubes. I never use tubes with these instruments because I think it destroys the tone personally. Unlike the Honer, these reads will allow you to bend. The action on this one is pretty soft, but I think the action on almost all of these instruments is soft to me as somebody who has spent a lot of time playing Fender Rhodes pianos, and grand pianos. :-) I have not tried to use it in studio, I’m using it for unplugged reasons. In my professional life everything is electronic and plugged in. So this is for folk tunes, and Irish fiddle tunes. And it has a great range for that. Due to the excellent job on the tuning I believe it would be possible to play mandolin chuck chords with it also. However, old-time music is not really part of my profession, and I am simply starting to learn that stuff for deeply personal reasons. So if a real pro player of old time, folk music, Irish, fiddle, music and alike, Waze in on this instrument, their opinion is much better than mine. I still can’t believe I spent as a little as I did on this instrument. Thank you for the YouTube videos. It showed me how good it could sound though. Otherwise I would have overlooked it.

If you're looking for an instrument that has a unique sound and is easy to play, this is by far the best choice!

This Melodica produces a clean sound and has maintained the same quality as it had when I originally bought it, even after heavy usage! If you know how to play the piano, you know how to play the Melodica!

Build Quality: 9/10 - Despite a majority of it being made of plastic it is extremely sturdy, along with the carrying case provided it enables you to keep the Melodica in pristine condition for years to come.

Weight: Once again, with it being made of mostly plastic it doesn't weigh that much at all. Even after playing it for a substantial amount of time my hands didn't cramp or begin to feel tired in the slightest. It's easy to maneuver around and carry with you wherever you take it.

Sound: The Sound itself is as clear as can be, there isn't any other noise produced by the instrument besides the noise playing it makes. Since it functions with breath you're also able to control the intensity and velocity at which you play, creating softer and harder sounds.

Overall: There really isn't anything wrong with the product at all, it's made with care that's for sure. Of course this product is for a select group of people but if you're into having fun with music this is a product that you simply cannot pass up on.

Purchased for my twin granddaughters. They are learning music and I felt this was quite appropriate for a beginner. Purchased two separate instruments and am quite happy to say they sound great.
