A very basic beginner violin. It plays and sounds just as a real violin should and is great for learning on.

At this price point they naturally had to make some sacrifices - it doesn't hold a tune very well, and the keys on the head want to slip if you don't push them in while you're making adjustments up there. I'm sure a higher quality violin would sound better, but if you're getting this for a beginner even an expensive violin wouldn't sound too great while they're learning how to hold the bow and get clean notes. When my daughter gets a note right, it sounds good enough.

All that said, I gave this violin five stars because it is a real violin and especially when you consider all the included accessories, the value is pretty incredible at this price.

It broke after 3 weeks.

At first, the violin was working fine. It came in a nice case, it had nice features, and it came with rosin. The bridge was not set up, however, and I went to set it up. It took a bit, but I was able to set in place. I played it on and off for about two weeks and it worked wonderfully.

However, on the third week, I was playing it and noticed that it was a bit out of tune. When I went to adjust the peg, the G string snapped. I didn't put much pressure on the peg but it snapped. I went ahead and tried to replace it. But when I replaced the string and tried to tighten the peg, the string broke so violently that it broke the tailpiece that holds the string. I tried my hardest to fix it to no avail.

Don't. Buy. Violins. From. Amazon. Go to reliable instrument retail store and purchase a reliable violin.

A great Violin set for beginners with great build quality!

This violin will surprise you with its build quality. For the price, it is definitely a great deal when it comes along with every accessory you would need to start your classes. My wife got crazy to learn violin suddenly and so after searching for all the economical options, I ended with this. I didn't want to spend on a costly violin as I am sure this craze of hers will end soon.

This is a budget combo and not fair to compare this with a costly violin which costs 5-10 times more than this. Keeping that in mind, my 2 cents below :

Pros:
- Excellent build quality for the wood and even the strings
- Sound is good enough compared to the online teaching videos where the tutor plays costly ones. I have zero knowledge about the violin and just my thoughts based on what I could get while seeing my wife learning.
- I loved the color finish
- It comes with everything you would need to start violin training. From tuning the violin to playing to cleaning, everything is included. It even comes with extra strings
- The hard carrying case in which the violin arrives is nice making it a portable option
- Super reasonable price

Cons:
- You don't get additional color options with this model. Some folks might prefer a more neutral color or more funky color

Overall it is a great product considering the price. Recommended. Worth trying for beginners and later upgrading to costly ones when you are proficient in playing it.

Not terrible for the price

This violin is about what you’d expect for the price. The wood on the neck was unfinished underneath (doesn’t impact performance at all). It has a handy finger guide but is very tricky to get in place. The tuning pegs aren’t very well fitting so I had to push them in to tune the violin. The violin requires very frequent tuning because of this. That brings me to the tuner, it died quickly. Not a huge deal since there are plenty of free tuners for smart phones out there. The bow had some loose hairs but not a big deal. I like that the whole thing comes with all you’d need to start(even extra strings and rosin). If you want to get a violin for a kid who you’re pretty sure is going to loose interest fast (but not positive and you’re hopeful they will stick with it) and there isn’t anything available at their school, go ahead and order it. If the violin student wants to stick with it, upgrade to something a bit nicer.

Not great, but ok and playable for a beginner… maybe

This was heavily discounted so I bought it out of curiosity if it is good enough for a grandkid to start learning with. Short answer = maybe. I am having trouble getting it in tune and keeping it in tune because the pegs seem to slip too easily. Other than that, the build seems ok except the back of the neck is unfinished for some reason. The sound lacks the depth, resonance, and fullness of an expensive violin, but the sound is really not bad. Certainly it sounds good enough for a beginner who needs to work on violin basics and fingering, etc. And the bow took rosin ok and played good enough. So I will try using some peg grease and upgrade the strings with known quality replacements to see if the tuning issue can be fixed. If yes, my grandkid has a violin to use. If interest is lost, no big investment is lost.
