I am absolutely thrilled with my Donner Electric Guitar, model DST-152! As a beginner guitar player, I couldn't have asked for a better instrument to kick-start my musical journey. The sleek and stylish design initially caught my eye, and upon playing it, I was blown away by its impressive sound quality. The rich, resonant tones it produces are a delight to the ears and have motivated me to practice for hours on end. The smooth fret board and comfortable neck make it easy for me to navigate through chords and scales, enhancing my learning experience.

Whether I'm strumming along to my favorite songs or experimenting with new techniques, the DST-152's versatility has exceeded my expectations. It's truly a fantastic guitar that has quickly become an integral part of my musical expression.

In addition to the guitar itself, I also invested in a collection of 13 Donner pedals to create a dynamic pedal board setup for my gigs. This combination has taken my performances to the next level, allowing me to explore an array of captivating sounds and effects.

Each Donner pedal enhances the character of my playing, from the subtle nuances to the bold crescendos. I'm able to effortlessly switch between different tones, giving my performances a professional edge that leaves a lasting impression on the audience. With the Donner Electric Guitar and my diverse pedal board, I'm not only equipped for success as a beginner, but I'm also confidently stepping into the world of live music with a setup that's as unique and innovative as my musical aspirations.

The only CON is the machine heads or tuner clicks when I am tuning my strings. The strings stay in tune but the machine heads appear to have an internal issue which I cannot fix.

This is a review of the Donner DMT-100. I’m not sure why Amazon has it labeled a “DK”, but its the newest “metal” guitar from Donner. For background, I am 43 years old and only started learning to play a year and a half ago. I do it as a hobby, playing for myself and by myself. I have no aspirations of playing in a band and don’t have any musical background or education. That being said, I have learned everything I can about proper guitar setup and things I like and don’t like. This is also not my first Donner guitar. My first was an acoustic. Six months later I bought my first electric, the DST-100. This is the experience and perspective I’m coming from with this review, so if you have much more experience, knowledge, or play professionally, this probably won’t help much. If, on the other hand, you’re like me and just play for fun as a hobby or are just starting out, and you appreciate value without spending a fortune, I think you’ll find this insightful.

The first thing I noticed was how light this guitar is, probably somewhere around 6lbs. I am completely in LOVE with the matte black finish which extends all the way up to the head stock. After peeling off the plastic and tuning up I checked the neck…it was perfect with a slight bit of relief. No buzz on any of the frets. I used a string gauge ruler to check the string heights at the 12th fret. They were right around 1.8mm on the low E and 1.6mm on the high E. Perfect for me; no adjustment needed. Next I checked intonation. All but the low E were dead on perfect, and that E string was so minimally off that I didn’t even bother adjusting it. The tuning pegs on this guitar aren’t exactly high end, but they’re much better than the ones that were on my DST-100. Those were horrible and I eventually replaced them with HipShot locking tuners. I haven’t noticed much slippage with these ones so I think I’ll keep them on. Also, the knobs and control switch feel really solid, no slop. As far as the frets…no sharp edges at all and no sprout. I can run my hand up and down both sides of the fret board and not feel a thing. They were, however, very gritty. I removed the strings and polished the frets to smooth them out, then wiped the board with conditioner (it was pretty dry). Restrung it with Super Slinky’s and its good to go.

Compared to the DST, this guitar required very little setup, at least according to my limited experience. As for sound, well, it sounds great to my limited experience music ears but everyone has their own opinion about sound anyways so I’ll leave that to the pros. But I am so happy with the fit and finish of this guitar. I recommend it without any reservation and appreciate that I’m not paying top dollar simply for a more well known name brand.

TLDR: Good guitar, bad accessories

I am a novice adult guitar player (less than one year experience). After playing an acoustic, I wanted to try my hand at an electric.

The guitar:
I love the ice blue color. It looks very sharp. The guitar seems well made with no blemishes. The strings feel like they are a little thinner compared to what is on my son's squire. Controls all work well.

Amp:
The Amp is good for practicing in my room. It's not super loud, so don't expect to use it if you need to be heard over anything

Tuner:
It's not the best tuner, but it gets the job done. You have to strum the string pretty loud to get it to read. I have a better tuner from my acoustic that I use.

Strap: I'm starting to get some frayed edges after a couple weeks worth of use and it comes off the guitar easily. I will probably get a new strap for this soon.

Gig bag: this is my biggest disappointment among the accessories. First off, the bag is very loud and crinkly. I seems like it is padded with packing paper and makes a loud crinkle any time it moves. The most frustrating is the front pocket is just to small to hold a folder or music book. It would not have taken that much more to make this pocket big enough.
