Sondery Soprano Recorder Instrument German Fingering Durable Beginner's Recorder for Kids & Adults Easy-to-Play Plastic Body Includes Fingering Chart Carry Pouch

This recorder comes with an instruction manual and a carry bag for the recorder. I ordered this instrument for my granddaughters. My granddaughters are 3 years old and love music. My son also played a Recorder in school so I thought we would all have fun with this instrument. The pink is perfect for the girls. This is a well made plastic instrument. The recorder is easy to play and sounds great. I liked it so much I ordered another so my granddaughters could each have one. I think this would make a practical fun gift for kids to learn an instrument.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good sound for an inexpensive instrument

What better time to test and review a musical instrument that has been known to drive parents of budding musicians to the brink of insanity than when one is already experiencing a raging migraine?

I really didn’t expect much from this inexpensive ABS plastic recorder, but I was pleasantly surprised. It actually sounds BETTER than my very similar entry level recorder of a well-known and highly reputable brand of musical instruments! The sound of this recorder is crisper and sweeter, and it seems to have slightly better dynamic range than the other brand. The tuning is very accurate with no noticeably off-key notes (unless you forget that it uses German, not Baroque, fingering). It struggles a little in the second (higher) octave, but most beginners won’t be playing those higher notes anyway. (Or, at least not intentionally.)

Parents and primary school music teachers, I can recommend this recorder for your young students without reservation. I may actually be playing this one regularly because it doesn’t make my head hurt, even with a preexisting migraine!

It’s been many years since I’ve played a wind instrument. I tried playing along with a song from Lord of the Rings but I ended up struggling to make consistent notes. To review it though, I concentrated on blowing whatever note I could maintain and repeat then play with the different finger hole combinations. Not being trained on a recorder I was surprised by how the different holes work, but as the sounds were clear, pleasant, and consistent I recognized the recorder was working well - it was the musician that needed work.

I’m looking forward to learning how to play this well. I played tuba and trombone in middle school, and tried trumpet a few times but didn’t like the tight pursing required compared to the larger horns. I tried bassoon too, but I don’t recall what I thought of that. I also attempted to learn Oboe for a few weeks before I gave up. I think the oboe is the closest I’ve been to playing a recorder. I list all that to say I don’t have the skill - yet. The instrument though seems fine, if not high-end. It’s a lightweight ABS plastic that feels strong but to me feels like a practice instrument. If I planned to perform with it I’d do some research to see what a higher end recorder would be like, then compare the price to see if it’d be worth it to me to spend that much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flashbacks to childhood

Yep, I have old memories of being a kid and blowing on a recorder and annoying the adults. Now, I willfully got this so that my kids can have the same experience. I was painfully reminded of this when all the sudden I felt something cool against my ear followed by a full-lung loud blast of squeaky recorder in all it's glory.
Yes, this thing harkens back to days of yore. But besides this, it actually does work. Now to get the kids on track to playing actual tunes...
Wish me and my eardrums luck...

5.0 out of 5 stars Even if you never played an instrument, try this one!

Even though this is plastic it is not a child's toy. Kids can make noise in it, but I hope there is someone who can show the child the easy basics to make a tune right away. It has a lovely sound to me, and I've played several in my life including a wooden one crafted in Germany. By all means adults should teach themselves how to play it, practice breath control, as in louder and softer, and quickly placing fingers over the holes. Tip, the bottom of the recorder, the foot, should be physically turned down (to the right) just a little to make it easier to place the pad of the little finger on it comfortably. Oh, also, you will use the pads of your fingers rather than the tips! This is a fine instrument that can give you years of enjoyment. After a time, you may even look at variations of the standard recorder! Don't miss this opportunity!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good beginner instrument.

This is a well made solid plastic (food-grade ABS material) recorder. This recorder comes apart so cleaning is easy and since the bottom "foot joint" is removeable it can be adjusted to accommodate the length of the players little finger. The mouthpiece is also removeable so it can be washed if needed.

I have not played a recorder in many, many years and found if I did not blow into the mouthpiece correctly I got an very squeaky tone, this encouraged me to correct my playing to produce a more mellow tone.
This recorder comes with a very nice cloth carrying pouch and a rudimentary fingering chart, but it does not include a cleaning rod.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fine beginner's instrument

I think a lot of us remember being taught to play these in some music class or other as children. If so, this might be a piece of nostalgia, or it could be a good inexpensive choice of a first instrument for an absolute beginner. Of course it would be unfair to review this in comparison to "real" musical instruments for professionals, but I have to say, it's just as good as I remember the ones being in my youth. With a bit of practice, it can actually make good music.

This particular one is of a standard size and well made.

Wish I had this in elementary school! This comes with everything you need for learning the recorder! It comes with a multilingual paper that teaches you the notes and what you need to play. The finger holes are perfect for small or large fingers and hands. It’s durable easy to use and sounds beautiful. The color is eye catching and subtle. It comes with a carrying/storage case and the price is right on point. I highly recommend this recorder for anyone who is an adult or a child who needs one for school.
