    Got this for my child when they were in 4th grade music class. Their other parent had gotten one for $5 that was a clear one piece recorder that sounded like nails on a chalkboard. I couldn't stand it, and my kid complained that it sounded noticeably worse than their classmates' recorders.

    So we found this one and bought it. I think it was listed as $12 or $13 at the time. Great value. It comes apart to clean, and sounds much better than the other cheap toy one. They enjoyed it in class, and while a recorder in the home can be a headache for a parent regardless, this one was not screechy and terrible, so its been fine.
