I bought this for my 12 year old for use on out iMAC during his Trombone lessons. His teacher says it greatly improves the sound for Video lessons. It took only a couple of minutes to connect and works very well. A+

5.0 out of 5 stars easy installation and decent vocal quality as I speak with ...

This is a very functional USB microphone; easy installation and decent vocal quality as I speak with peoples all over the Globe and in different time zones. My friend who lives in Tasmania Australia, can hear me with clarity as though I am just in the next room or right there! I like the flexible goose neck the microphone is mounted upon! The neck is pretty flexible and sturdy meaning it holds its place. I needed a replacement for my old Logitech microphone which use to run $39.99 but for whatever reason, can not find one for less than $100.00! Supply and Demand I guess, plus it was a quality device, but would not pay $100.00 to replace it. CMTECK seems to be a good value for the money', good for basic Skype, Webcamming, or recording audio from your desktop. The devices base is sturdy and solid enough to keep the unit firmly on your work desk. The single mute button on the unit will toggle but you need to really push, not a touchscreen plunger button but made well enough to last with normal use. Beside the "trigger" pull is resistant enough that your cat will not just active it if it walks over the unit, which is good! OVERRALL

PROS:
1. Decent audio recording/transmission quality (Voice/Sound)
2. USB connection, meaning the microphone is full-duplex, which translates into Tx/Rx simultaneously broadcasts while you receive from transmission from your client/host source. Most USB-based Microphones these days are full-duplex by default!
3. Best value for the money, sturdy constructs, will not break into a 100 pieces if it accidently falls to the floor or is knocked over, (Just don't spike it! ;))
4. The flexible goose-neck design allows for user comfort and holds it place well.

CONS:
1. Buttons, and switches could have been designed with better placement on the chassis of the unit.
2. No physically adjustable Volume/Gain/Input control on the unit, ,all that is software controlled through your system.
3. No separate stereo audio jack/port to plug or extend attachments or other devices.
4. The base of the unit could use a bit more ergonomic thought behind it, the triangular shape my look nice, but it makes it a bit awkward on a desktop or surface area with limited space. Not really practical to take it on the road like if you go to a Coffee house, yougart bar etc where you have coffee cups and computer stuff competing for table space. Besides this unit will most likely eat your battery capacity alive, if your system is not plugged into a power supply! So portability is limited.

Conclusion: I would buy this unit again given the price, just under $20,, however would look elsewhere if the price went to $25 or even $30 bucks. But still happy with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good budget mic

first off - this is definitely not the best. It is not for recording quality audio. That being said, it works perfect for online calls like Zoom or google meets, and is perfect for just playing videogames with your friends. It has a mute button which is nice and the decorative LEDs can be turned on/off with a switch on the side.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well

This was purchased for work, where every other week we need to record things to send to the local radio station. This microphone has been easy to use (just plug in) and has made the sound quality much of our recordings much better and clearer. The lack of background noise is great.

Bought this to play mah jongg on line and talk to friends - my monitor does not have external microphone- this works just fine. Hope it holds up, but so far so good - they can hear me fine. Good purchase for the money- I don’t do gaming so I don’t know about that

5.0 out of 5 stars better than I expected

So, I didn't expect a whole lot out of this mic. Given it said it has a wide pickup pattern, like you would want for a group, like in a conference room sitting around a table, I thought it would probably be a bit weak. Folks on zoom calls with me tell me that's not the case, that it sounds just fine, like I'm "on the radio."

I have done some test recordings and while it's no directional mic, it's actually pretty good for just me sitting at my desk doing zoom calls. In comparison recordings, sound was only slightly less strong than the "gaming" headset mic I was using before. Sound was a little different, slightly more distant though, again, not weak, but still good quality. I'm running my mic gain about 80% on the PC and it's fine, so I even had some room if I want to boost it a bit. If you consider the gaming rig puts the mic 3" from my mouth and I sit this 2-2.5 feet away and it's only SLIGHTLY less strong, I'd say that's a definite win. I can move around, kick back in my chair, etc. and there is only a slight change in how I sound, although I use it in a very small home office with lots of 'hard' surfaces and without much in there to absorb sound, so others' experience in this regard may vary.

I really like the mute button on the mic which allows me to keep the mic in the muted state unless I'm using it. On Zoom, I mute with the app, but not all apps have that. THe button has a nice positive click, not mushy or cheap feeling. The LED that shows green for live, red for mute is very helpful to know which state it is in.

NO, it's not a $100 (... or more...) mic, but the build quality exceeded what I expected for this price point. The gooseneck is easy to bend, allowing you point point it where-ever, but it's firm and holds any position I've put it in just fine. USB cord is adequately long. The base is neither large nor heavy, but is very stable. I thought the blue LEDs on the top were trivial but as they are on all the time, turns out they are quite helpful to alert me right away if I accidentally pull the mic USB cable out instead of some other device I'm trying to unplug. Now I like them! It just worked, no drivers needed (using MX Linux).

I bought this as a "just try it out" sort of purchase on a whim and I thought it might just be something I moved to one of our machines out in the house where we would use it doing video calls with family and I'd move up to something twice the price. But it turned out I REALLY like this mic! In fact, it has earned a spot in my tech inner-circle and is now part of my daily-use equipment and I haven't looked at mics since I bought it.

If I need a second mic for me or one for someone else in the family, this will be a buy-again.

Update 3/2023: STILL going strong, great mic for the money. As I said I would ... buying another for my son.

3.0 out of 5 stars hardware good, documentation bad, support lacking
Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2023
I bought the product because my laptop's internal microphone faded in and out during an international Skype call. The product specifically mentioned compatibility with Windows and Skype; however, the instructions were for Windows 7 or 10 but not Windows 11. I submitted a request to the company for Windows 11 guidance on September 20, 2023. I'm writing this review on October 2, 2023; I have received no reply. I almost returned the microphone, but was able to figure out Windows 11 configuration after many hours of web surfing. Bottom line: hardware good, documentation bad, support lacking.
