Pretty chintzy little ukulele. I guess for beginners it's not that bad. The strings were all extremely loose when it came. The digital tuner doesn't work the greatest either. Not bad for 30$ I guess but I think I was expecting a little more .

4.0 out of 5 stars Great ukulele for beginners
Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2024
This ukulele is perfect for beginners. It sounds good and seems to be well made. Like some of the other reviewers stated, I also had a hard time keeping it tuned. The strings it came with are not the best so I replaced them.

I ordered this Soprano Ukulele-21 inch because I've always wanted one. I had a folk guitar for many years and never really learned how to play it. Plus, it is known that guitar strings are very hard on your fingers. So, I figured why not try a ukulele? Especially, this one. It is called a "soprano" ukulele, which is the smallest and lightest. It is the "traditional" ukulele you hear playing Hawaiian, Polynesian, etc. songs. There are also three more that go up in size and weight which include the Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. Those have more of a deeper, warmer tone to them. This ukulele came in a storage box, along with a storage bag, manual, tuner, and extra strings, and it said it came with 2 picks which I didn't get with mine. This "soprano" ukulele has 4 strings with the lowest note to highest note in this particular order: G, C, E, A. When you take the tuner out of its box, you see a battery sitting between the clips of the tuner. Once you turn the clip around the tuner base, you can open the clip to get the battery out. You then need to get the battery cover off the back of the tuner(I found it a bit hard and had to use a butter knife to pry it open). After you get it open, it says to insert the round battery with the negative(-) side facing inward. It is explained in the manual. I found there is a tiny little protrusion on the left where the battery goes, and you have to make sure the battery is below that to properly fit. When the battery is tightly placed into its area, put the cover back over and snap or slide securely. The tuner should automatically turn on(but if not, you can press the button on the front and hold for 2 seconds). The manual didn't explain this(so I had to research it), but the tuner clips onto the "headstock". That is the top of the neck of the ukulele. Apparently, that is where it feels the vibration of the notes the best. Then you will start at the lowest string and strum it to see what note it is indicating. Keep adjusting/tuning your string until it reaches the "G" note, but it has to be lit up in Green. Just having it show up in the Blue is not fully tuned. Then go through tuning the other strings until you have a green light for every note(G, C, E, & A). And then you are fully tuned! I also show the size of the ukulele from an adult's perspective. Although the "soprano" ukulele may be "child-sized", it is for children and adults alike. And it is easy to learn to play with only 4 notes to memorize. It does come in other colors such as Pink, Purple, and Mocha. I have the "Wood" color. I think the price is reasonable because it comes with both the storage bag and box, along with extra strings, the tuner, and 2 picks. After all, it IS a real musical instrument. It is NOT a toy! It is the perfect gift for a child learning to appreciate music, or even an adult who has difficulty playing a guitar. I would even go so far as to say, that senior citizens would love this. I am almost one myself, and this would be an easy instrument to learn, and have fun with! I look forward to enjoying my new instrument!

2.0 out of 5 stars Holds the tuning for about 3 seconds

My 5-year-old daughter saved up her money to buy this and she was so excited when it finally came today. I got it out of the box and tuned it for her and the strings won't even hold the tune for more than a few seconds. Definitely disappointed, expected this to be an instrument not a toy. Does not qualify as a playable instrument. Please don't waste your money, we already sent for a refund.

This Soprano Ukulele for Beginners - 21 Inch Small Guitar Ukulele for Kid Adult Student with Gig Bag, Digital Tuner, 1 Standby String and 2 Picks (21inch, Wood Color) is really perfect as a beginner ukelele. It's not designed to be a concert level instrument, but for someone who just wants to play with it or even learn how to play it's pretty much perfect! This ukelele comes with everything a budding musician needs, including the bag, picks, extra string and even a tuner! My adult son taught himself to play the guitar, and he was really excited to get this little ukelele for Christmas - and he absolutely loves it! It's obviously designed for beginners, but it is perfect for the job! It's priced right, decent quality, and a good value. I would absolutely recommend this cute little ukelele!
