5.0 out of 5 stars Great Beginner Trombone

Overall construction, fit, and finish are excellent for price-point. Very lightweight but robust enough to withstand handling by a young beginner. Tone is midrange heavy and full so it won't cut through (which could be a good or bad thing depending on your application). Feel is lighter and smaller than more expensive intermediate models.

Out of the box, the slide was a little ratchety but slide grease it up and let it settle and it will improve tho you may never get it to be slick. I would say this instrument is ample for elementary-middle school student. A high school student could use this as a practice instrument at home but may not be suitable for heavy ensemble playing for tone and volume in a group.

All included accessories are adequate. I would upgrade the slide lube and mouthpiece out of the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an affordable alternative to renting a school instrument.

This is a great starter trombone for a middle schooler. It is beautiful, seems well made, and the case is light and sturdy. The family musician is enjoying learning how to play, and the sound quality is amazing. He is able to match positions and tones in his virtual instruction very well.

Perfect starter trombone for my sixth grader!! It's light weight but still the real deal, and heavy duty feeling instrument. Arrived sooner than expected! Best part it's Brand new, cheaper than renting, and he gets to keep it at the end of the year!! Very nice case inside and out! Would be steller if it came with an i.d. tag.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will not last! Not proper material

This is the email I received from my son's band teacher, and his best friend in class went through the same exact thing, because we both purchased the same trombone from this seller!

"Today in ____'s band lesson, we went to oil his slide because it was super stiff. When we went to put oil on, we noticed that the whole bottom half of his slide had rust on it, coming from a welded joint at the bottom of the trombone. This was very concerning, as it typically takes years of not being used and storing in a damp environment for this to happen. I then went to clean the rust off the slide, and when I took the slide casing off, the inside of bottom of the slide had mold and evidence of deteriorating metal. I am not sure where this trombone is from, but by the state of it, it is not going to last very long, and I am concerned about Dean playing and instrument that had mold and metal deterioration. I have never seen anything like this before on a new instrument, and I am wondering if the slide/trombone is not made out of the correct type of metal. The rust and deterioration of metal have nothing to do with his care of the instrument. I believe it is just not made out of the correct material. My recommendation would be, if you are able, would be to look into getting a different trombone from one of the local music stores. I understand that this may be hard, but I would rather be safe than sorry as I do not know what breathing in the materials, I cleaned out of his slide could do to his health. Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions."

We then went and purchased a used trombone for over $300 at a music store ????

3.0 out of 5 stars Worked well for 1 year

This instrument was OK to find out if my son was serious about trombone. It corroded and is no longer usable. I bought it at the start of 7th grade and made him finish out 8th grade but I should have replaced it at the start of the year. His 8th grade year he struggled with the slide not moving very smoothly. I didnt realize the spit valve had completely corroded out and he was using candy bar wrappers to help fill the hole. I don't think it was because of his maintenance either. It's just not that high quality. The handles to the bag ripped right away and he held the bag under his arm, although, he is a crosscountry runner and would run to school with it often so he could have been harder on those handles than most. If you plan on playing a long time, buy something a little higher quality than this.
