I Just unboxed it and did a quick setup. Right now I am thoroughly impressed. pegs hold, strings hold, case is nice. If things change I will repost, but out of the box it is spot on for what it is.
I bought it because it was amazingly inexpensive, under $25 with tax. I was pleasantly surprised with just about everything. It was packaged well, the case is well made, the shoulder rest is adjustable for different size violins and has a nice curve to it. I used the tuner that came with the kit, which seemed either too sensitive or not sensitive enough but i was able to get to GDAE. The pegs held solidly - they were not pushed in fully when the violin arrived, but that could have been settling in transit. It made it easier to push/set them to where they held and could still be turned. The pegs never slipped on me when I was tuning. The bow was straight with no split/cut hairs. From a quick glance the sound post looked to be in the proper place, and the bridge will only need a light sanding for the feet to rest properly. I was able to rosin the bow easily within a few minutes and start annoying my dog. It sounded like a violin. For someone who just wants to play and doesn't know how to set up a violin it could be set up to play following a few videos on Youtube/ I did not accurately measure the sound bar placement, or the bridge height, or the string spacing, or the string height, etcetera - I did a quick set that someone who just wants to try a violin would do.
Is it as good as my $1000 instrument - no, but then my $1000 violin is not as good as an intermediate or a pro level violin. Is this a VSO (violin shaped object), probably, but it is one that you can actually play -practice proper bow holds, practice setting the violin on your shoulder, practice holding it properly, actually play notes, and not have to worry about it slipping out of tune. You will replace it with something better if you like the violin, but you can keep the rosin, the case, the tuner, and the mute to use with your next level violin. The extras are worth the price I paid with the violin.

But, there is only one thing a violin really needs to do well, and this one doesn't: sound good. It is shallow and tinny.
My other critical note is that the fingerboard piece is made of something very soft- just tuning the strings left deep impressions along the nut.
So close, but so far.
Great choice if you're planning it to be wall art. Maybe some of them sound good- I'm tempted to try another.
