the first keyboard I received had a strong hum and heavily decaying notes but the replacement is much better. at higher volumes there’s little to no note decay, though at volume 1 there’s still a bit of “fizzle out” electronic sound. now to be fair, I wanted something I could hear without having to do much set up, and this is that. will still use a launch key or midi for recording, but this is a great budget option for pushing a button and playing with ideas or learning.

Cheap. Is that so bad?

I paid $45 for this Bluetooth 25 key midi keyboard. It feels cheap, the keybed is nothing special, typical spongy feeling, and the keys are closer to full sized compared to most of my other “mini key” keyboards (update: the keys are the same size as my Arturia Keystep’s (but don’t feel the same) so let’s call them “average mini keys” but larger than say a Roland JD-Xi keys). The TFT display is totally adequate. It connected via Bluetooth to my iPad without much trouble and I can hear virtually no latency. The joystick isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, it recenters itself. The knobs are endless encoders, and, yes, also adequate. I’ve felt better pads, but again, this was $45. It has a non-replaceable rechargeable battery, I heard that lasts 4 hours, which could be better, but…it’s the cheap aspect.

It does everything it is supposed to do, no less, no more. I wanted maybe something a little smaller, as this is my travel midi keyboard, but there aren’t many keyboards out there that has Bluetooth at this price point. The RockJam is wider than my iPad, I wanted something about the same size as my iPad, which is just my preference.

So…. 5 stars if you get this for $45. Maybe 4 stars if you had to pay more.

I am suffering from the delusion that I want nice things, I just don’t want to pay for them. This is nice enough. You can get something better by spending twice as much. But should you?

Got this for my 9 yr old for Xmas 2022- all she wanted was a keyboard!!! My husband and I spent countless hours scouring the internet for an affordable, good quality, LASTING, beginner keyboard. We read through THOUSANDS of reviews before eventually deciding on this particular keyboard. When she opened it up on Xmas morning, she was THE HAPPIEST kid!!! This was the BEST GIFT she’d gotten ???? we even got her a little head set about a week later so she could play her heart out whenever she desired without distracting anyone else!!! Her & her little sister learned sooo many songs SOO QUICKLY, without any cheat sheets!?! I even got the little one a small little kid keyboard to be just like her sister!! I figured once we upgraded, we could give this one to her…. Wellll after about 4/5 months of magical music - the keys stopped producing any sound. The speakers worked, the lights turned on, everything was working but no sound came from pushing any of the keys!! I kept it around, hoping to get on here to reach out to customer service… but it just became another eyesore that took up way too much space.
Both girls completely lost interest in learning / playing music on a keyboard & I threw it out a few days ago. Too bad it didn’t last but I guess that’s how things are today.
