    I was looking for a compact lamp for my reading corner, and I ended up choosing the Simple Designs LD1003-BLK.

    The design of the lamp itself is, well, quite plain, really simple. But I didn’t intend to admire it; I need it for reading in the evenings.

    It’s a classic and very affordable lamp. I mentioned the black color earlier, and the flexible neck is also handy: the 60-watt bulb is pretty bright, and I can easily tilt the lamp so it doesn’t strain my eyes.

    In a few reviews here, people mention that this lamp has survived multiple falls, and that's true—although it’s made of inexpensive materials, it’s quite sturdy.

    Overall, this is the most ordinary desk lamp in the world, without any frills. Cheap and cheerful, and it gets the job done.

    Well, I wanted a little desk lamp that would light up the desk, not the room. I wanted to read it, not keep my wife awake while I read it. I started out with a standard sized LED bulb in the lamp, but it actually stuck out below the lamp shade so I went with a shorter appliance style bulb, and it is really perfect. It lights up the desk, not the room, and with the LED bulbs having a much lower operating temperature you do not need to be concerned with "exceeding" the recommended wattage for your bulb because those stickers are all still based on old incandescent bulbs that ran a lot hotter than the new LEDs. I have had the lamp on for over an hour and I can still touch the bulb.

    I chose this desk lamp for a couple of reasons. I needed to replace my old one asap, and it was reasonably priced. Well, as far as pricing, it was in the same range as the lamp in bought 22 years ago when I got my first computer. Yes you read that right. My previous desk lamp lasted 22 years. One day it just stopped working. I thought it was the light bulbs. I tried a few new bulbs with no luck. So I broke down and got this one. It is definitely not made to last. The base of the lamp has some play, I shouldn't be able to move it at all. And it doesn't have much weight to it. Every time I flex it to adjust the light, It makes noise. This I'm not used to. Could be the plastic coil around the neck. But that doesn't alleviate the feeling that it may just stop working anytime. My other one was considerably heavier, sturdier and was in fact made to last. [And it sure did] I'm not totally disappointed. Just disappointed that my old one stopped working after all these years. Also that I didn't come across the same quality style desk lamp. I would definitely recommend, but would not expect it to last more than a few years ????

    I am slowly losing my sight so I needed a powerful lamp for my computer desk. It came before it was scheduled and I love it. It uses standard everyday bulbs and without it I couldn't see the keyboard or the screen. Very sturdy and it can be adjusted to shine where you need it. I would highly recommed it

    This little lamp puts out a lot of light either for spot work or ambient lighting, choose the bulb accordingly. I need this sturdy, little lamp for both kinds of lighting so I use a bright white fluorescent coil bulb and I couldn’t be happier. There is one “on/off” switch and a long bendable neck. For ambient light I turn the lamp towards an opposing wall and the reflected light casts a pleasant shadowy, gentle light great for watching a movie on a large or small screen. There is no flickering whatsoever. It is exactly what I needed. A do-it-all lamp, simple to operate, adjustable and inexpensive. Arrived quickly and well packaged.

    For a very cheap lamp, this worked perfectly. The cord was long enough to fit behind my desk to reach the power strip on the floor. Bulb fit nicely.

    bought the lamp March 2023. It worked well, but now June 2024 and died. Cha nged the bulb to be sure. Guess the on/off switch stop working, not likely the wire defective as the lamp sat on the night stand by the bed. Price great, but should last for more than a year.
