    These gel pens are incredibly smooth, and don't skip, a problem I've had with the Pilot G2. I use these in several different journals. I use a Rettacy A5 for book reviews; since the paper in those is very smooth, I had to switch from the 0.7mm to 0.5mm for a neater look, because they glide over the surface. These pens are comfortable to hold, something I appreciate when writing very long reviews, or making other journal entries. For me, the shade of blue is just right; not too dark, but not too weak or washed out. I also like that I can buy a box of a dozen refills for a reasonable price. I have these 0.5 pens in blue, black, violet, and sky blue, but I mostly use the standard blue and black.

    Pentel's claim to quick drying ink is very true. Some people reported smearing when they write with this pen, I don't know what they were doing or writing on, but I can only think the smear might come from the type of paper they are writing on, they managed to damage the tip of the pen enough for ink to leak out, or they leave the tip in one spot for too long and let ink pool up. I've used this pen mainly on plain office printer paper just about everyone uses and with normal writing, it didn't smear. It did smear on me when I tried it on thermal shipping labels, generic brand sticky notes, and those cardboard sleeves you get with some coffee paper cups. So keep in mind gel ink doesn't work well with certain types of surfaces.

    My writing is small so having a fine tip with my gel pens is a must. Most of the time I'm writing notes in a fast manner and so far I've constantly had a consistent stream in ink flow and the pen just rolls smoothly over the paper. As with all gel pens, you have to be careful with the tip touches absorbent materials like clothes because it will bleed easily. One pitfall of this pen it is retractable and if you forget to retract it before putting it in your pocket or pen holder, the ink will leak onto your clothes. It's the same if you accidentally lean or press on it while it's in your pen pocket.

    I like the size of the body this because I have fairly long fingers and it's more comfortable for me to hold onto while writing. The finger grip is rubber soft enough to not irritate your finger tip if you do a lot of writing, but nothing to special. Due to the size of this pen, it may not fit into some pen pockets or holders. The pen is primary made of plastic with the exception of the clip, the spring, and the tip of the pen which is made of metal.

    This pen may seem pricey to some if you compare it to the cheap disposable pens. To me they are worth it because I love how fine it rights, the smoothness when I'm writing, and how sharp the black gel ink comes out.

    Love how these pens write, they're smooth, the .5 is more precise than the .7 is, and they feel good to hold. They're my current favorite pen that won't break the bank, the value for money is amazing for me.

    So far, the pens write nicely, ink flows smoothly, are fairly comfortable in my hand. The barrel is a nice color contrast, except for the stupid bar code. Seriously, you printed the bar code directly on the barrel of the pen! I'll find a different red pen when these run out. I won't bother refilling.
