I bought this blower to deal with heavy snow out in Western Colorado, and for the price, it really delivered. For a blower of its size and sturdiness, it's surprisingly light (though you won't be juggling it any time soon).

Blowing distance in my experience has been a bit shorter than advertised (maybe 15 feet), but that's not really been a problem. The ejection chute is easily to turn with a knob near the handle, so you can usually turn the chute to blow snow to a desired area no matter the blowing distance. Blowing distance also increases with more snow.

The machine is really easy to clean and operate, and my experience with the batteries that came with it has been good. It didn't come charged, but it only took 90 minutes to do both, so I just cooked dinner while the batteries got ready. Since then they've lasted 4 full runs of my driveway and still have a little left.

While I won't call it totally foolproof, I've also been impressed by the safety features of the blower. It stops automatically when it gets overloaded or the batteries get low enough that they'll be damaged by further use, which has been very helpful in keeping such a high cost investment in good condition. Once it stops, it's quickly starts up again once the problem is resolved, so this is a much bigger help than a burden.

Minimal assembly required and a set of folding handlebars which allows me to easily store it have made this snowblower a really good investment. Ego has a very good reputation with most people, and for good reason.

It's not easy to get stars and a hearty recommendation from me when dealing with high cost items. The more money you spend on an item, the bigger deal each flaw in a product is. However this one gets some big thumbs up for me. The only caution I might give is to buy batteries, charger, and blower separately to give you more control over price and charging time. However if ease of purchase is valuable to you, this will do just fine out of the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works really well. Not going to say I’m not impressed.

To be fair, it’s the first big snow of the season with dry lightly packed snow. Picked up a clipper that dropped 6” in half a day. This thing powered right through and didn’t hesitate once. Did my 4 car drive with about 2/3 of the battery left and part of the street (picky mail delivery). About to do round 2 in the morning with another expected 4”.

Pros: quick. Low power still has enough to move snow. High power will get you that 40’ snow shot. Didn’t feel that the less dense snow needed it. I didn’t run lights so I was fairly conservative on the battery draw.

Cons: these are kind of nit picky. It comes with two 5ah batteries. It would be nice to have the 7.5’s at the same price point. At over $700, I feel that it should have a tad bit more to it. The battery compartment has a raised edge to help prevent moisture from getting inside. Maybe a gasket would help. I wiped off around the door to make sure nothing entered the electronics. It will catch in any raised surface, even a slight one, so go slow.

Overall, I’m happy with it for a first time use. I didn’t have to wrench my back and shoulder trying to start my old craftsman thrower, so bonus there. Size comparison is about 1/3 larger than my 21” craftsman gas thrower (the one with the rubber blades). I would and plan to recommend as it’s about $300 less than the dewalt thrower and has better reviews.

This EGO snowblower works well. Some of the things I like:

    a. battery lasts about 25 minutes when blowing deep, heavy, snow
    b. the power drive feature is powerful and makes propelling the machine pretty easy
    c. when snow is dry it is shot quite a ways away, but likely not 50 feet, as advertised
    d. batteries are great and no need to keep jerking on a small gas engine to start it!

Things I'm not too happy about:

    a. the snow really sticks inside and shuts down the system (amber light) when area around auger and exit get clogged with very heavy and wet snow. Requires almost constant unclogging with wet snow

    b. you have to press pretty hard and hold the handle override down all the time while moving or moving and blowing. This gripping eventually is tiring on the left hand, in particular.

    c. with wet & heavy snow the snow it isn't shot far at all

Note: conditions of use...our driveway is 250 ft. long plus a large parking area (for 7 or 8 cars). We're at an elevation of 9400 ft. in the Rocky Mountains so usually get dry & light snow. I sprayed a de-sticking substance around auger and chute area. I bought a pair of extra batteries and need to use them each time the blower is used.
