5.0 out of 5 stars Portable Backup Power to the 24kv Generac whole house generator system
Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2024
I have been using Generac 22-24Kw whole house generators for years. Recently on the East Coast power was out for 4 days. I was my neighbors hero suppling him with an extension cord to run his fridge, tv, and box fan. For four days there was no interruptions and the Generac once again has saved the day.

Needless to say my neighbor is getting a Generac whole house system appraisal/install next week.

My purpose in getting this portable unit is to have the ability to use it while mobile at a park, picnic, or as a backup power device to something not on my 200 amp service panel at home. The device comes with 110v charging wire, 12v car battery charging wire, and a solar panel charging wire. (I didn't buy solar).
The face plate is well lighted with backlights on the switches when activated and a front panel readout of battery charging rate, battery charged level, and time remaining before empty.

Nobody ever complains about having excess backup power available in my world.

The price, Prime, and FedEx delivery were all flawless and kudos to Generac for the excellent packaging box that it was shipped in.

Note--- Be advised that they simply put mailing and HazMat labels on the Generac box so your porch pirates can see what the contents are.

Controls are very visable and easy to use. Price was reasonable and it can be charged by your home plugs; your car and solar. Fairly lightweight. Seems to be very quiet.

2000w of battery back power 120/20amp ac, and DC (but not at same time). We operate a bakery selĺ our product at local farmer's markets. We needed to power a refrigerator. My calulation was we would get a 4 hrs of run. First time out we got over 7 hours. Very easy to use. Get this one, not a cheaper knockoff.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT ONCE YOU BYPASS SLEEP MODE
Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2024
I LOVE the GB2000! Once set up, I thought I’d have to return the product as it went to sleep when it was most needed, as a backup power supply to my two sump pumps. After calling Chris at customer support, he called me back TWICE to help me understand that one could defeat sleep mode by have a constant load, no matter how slight, on the unit. It turns out that the very light on the front, when on, is enough to thwart the unit from going to sleep. CHRIS IN CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS AWESOME! Thanks, Chris! I’ll buy a Generac outdoor unit in the next couple years, because of this awesome CSR, CHRIS!

2.0 out of 5 stars Failed When Needed, No Support
Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2024
Overall, it works; however, there are things one should be aware of. This was a brand new unit.
1. First is you really need to know the watts used by the device and do not go by the handy watts used guide on the listing. If you do, double the wattage and halve the hours the battery it will run.
2. During a recent hurricane, I needed it to run the refrigerator. Charged it up to 100% at the gym which had power. Came home and turned it on, and it mysteriously discharged 19%. The second day, did the same, charged it up to 100% after 4 hours at the gym and when I came home, it had lost 26% of the charge.
3. Plugged in a USB fan to the DC port, worked great for a hour. Then it turned off. Not enough draw and the unit considered it idle and turned off after an hour. Just needed it to run a fan at night with no A/C and it couldn't do it.
4. Plugged in my vacuum battery charger into the AC port to charge the battery which can also be used in a fan and it cut out after an hour. Could not charge the battery except an hour at a time.
5. The solar panels are useless. After 6 hours in the sun starting at 11:00 a.m., only 5% charge. This was also at high-noon which gives you the optimal 90 degree angle and power in was only 60 watts. Returned the solar panels. Note, they ship them to you in the manufacturer box, but when you return them, you have to rebox them in a brown shipping box or they charge your account for all the additional stickers and wear on the manufacturer box. Just don't buy them.
6. Tried charging it up on the DC port in my Jeep when the gym had no power. The metal ring around the Jeep port and plug was so hot, I could not touch it. This took 4 hours to get 75% charge.
7. Called Generac and they said for warranty issues, you need to go to an authorized service provider. The provider recommended never returned calls. They sell the whole-house generators so were not interested in troubleshooting the discharge issue on the power station/battery, not to mention swamped with paying work after the hurricane. And they have a terrible reputation for customer service (according to our Nextdoor app).
For the money, this should be more reliable and fit for use. I ended up buying a gas-powered Inverter Generator which I will use to power this battery here at the house.
Last, you can't return it if you buy it on Amazon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wireless charger does not work
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2024
I bought the gb2000. It has a wireless charger on the top that is useless, doesn't work. I called the number on the box. Registered it, then was told I have to take it to a shop that's 19 miles away. Or pay travel expenses for someone to come from even further,(if they even will.) I cannot leave my husband alone so, I have a generator with a useless but pretty design on the top. I hope the rest of this thing works, haven't had a power outage yet. I thought generac would be better. Now I know, names don't matter anymore.
