5.0 out of 5 stars Traps those moths but not gnats

It works very well! The light is super bright though so if you stay in a like a small studio you may want to place it somewhere out of your sleeping area. It was easy to install and the size is the size of the whole outlet

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn’t work, waste of time/money.
Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2024
Too long/didnt read (TLDR): sticky doesnt really work, light isn't really that attractive, flies if they do come hang on non-sticky parts, survivors (see details) probably leave warning scents near light.

Im in an apartment, gaps in doors/windows bc everything in America built for profit, not to last. So I have a bad fly problem bc neighbor smokes, draws them in and they see the light in apartment & come in place.

I bought this in an attempt to deal with them. In a week with over three dozen flies it has captured 2, more often than not, they simply land on the non-sticky part. I put it in a very visible area, closed all blinds and doors so that basically the only light in the entire apartment for around 5ish hours at night and a fee hours in the morning is the light on this device.

The flies can also get off the sticky if theyre not completely on it, if its one or two legs, theyll get off, never return, and the other flies likely pick up on this behavior or learn (loosely) about it through the basic communication of flies (likely a chemical scent they leave near the light alerting them to leave).

Instead I’m going to try mesh screens indoor at all entry points, along with spray to see if that works. Thus far literally killing them myself by hand has worked better in one hour than this light has in a week.

UPDATE: STEM fly spray worked wonders. Utterly annihilated every fly in the place within five minutes. They haven’t been back since, they are terrified of the tool I now possess. Not even gonna get mesh screens bc thats how effective it was. AND ITS SAFE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY/PET FRIENDLY!!!

    5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a huge fan!
Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2023
    Pros:
    —simple!
—effective for both small gnats in the kitchen and phorid flies in the bathroom!
—doesn't require a ton of monitoring
—doesn't require difficult cleaning or a lot of effort to reset
—works much better for me than Katchy or yellow sticky cards that I've tried in the past

    Cons:
    —a little pricey
—very bright, so it may disrupt your sleep if used in a bedroom

    Final thoughts:
Living in apartments that don't have great ventilation OR gaps sealed up well, we're kind of in the center of the Venn diagram for least ideal conditions for pests. We try hard to keep things as dry and clean as possible, but bugs seem to come out of nowhere. We currently have small problems with gnats in the kitchen and probably phorid flies in the bathroom. So as we are trying to discover the sources of these issues and attacking the root causes, it feels great to knock back the breeding population of these pests to buy more time before a crazy population explosion.

My photo is of the trap placed in the kitchen overnight after noticing one or two gnats while I was cooking. Less than 12 hours later, I have a much better idea of the situation, and by looking at the empty trap several feet away in the living room, I can guess that it's a problem that's currently localized to my counter produce or at worst, refrigerator problems.

This might not completely solve your problem because the underlying cause of your infestation may require further attention, BUT, this is a really valuable addition to our arsenal in the endless war against flying pests!

3.0 out of 5 stars Really bright light, no option to turn off light when plugged in
Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2024
This could work well as a nightlight/bug trap combo, but I don't like how I can't turn off the light without unplugging it. It's way too bright to be plugged in in my ensuite bathroom at night when I'm trying to sleep, so I need to unplug it every night- a bit annoying. I had another bug trap like this that had different light options, including turning off the lamp completely- obviously it won't attract bugs then, but it was easier to just do that at night than fully unplug it.
On the other hand, if you like a nightlight anyways, this is bright enough to serve as a nightlight too (although it's a very blue light).
The bug trap part is fine- it's just a sticky card that the bugs stick to when they go to the light, but no complaints there.

We put these in our kitchen due to living in the country. Bugs just love the light and seem to be attracted to it. Cut down on the number of gnats and mosquitos we had flying around from letting dogs in/out of the house.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn’t really work AT ALL! I want a refund
Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2024
I had it delivered around 5pm. I immediately plugged it in. I didn’t think it would work until it was dark outside. I watched 2 house flies and about 4 fruit flies walk around the dang thing. They got stuck but they didn’t stick. All but one fruit fly didn’t stick. The quality of the product isn’t worth the price I paid for it.

It serves as a good night light if I need it to, but that’s it. Don’t waste your money on this. It doesn’t work. I want a refund
