5.0 out of 5 stars Great price and love the colors

After searching for coolers to take to work, it was hard to make the decision based on the prices. I price compared big stores to Amazon. No surprise, Amazon price was better. I read the reviews which were good.
The colors offered are great. Perfect size. Easy to carry and open. Quality is great and keeps the ice frozen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Built Keeps Ice For Days

This Igloo Cooler is very well built and seems like it will hold up to use for a long time. I tested it on a road trip where I stayed overnight at a campground and had it sitting in my van the whole time. I put ice in it on a Monday, camped overnight, came home and left it and drinks in the cooler in the van.The video shows what I find when I go out to the van for a look on the following Friday to see if there was any ice left and well, the video shows that there still was ice! Sure it had some water, but, quite a bit of ice still. The drinks were very cold still. Now, one thing that some may see as a con is that it doesn't have a drain plug, but, for me, it was what I wanted because I have heard stories about the drain plugs leaking water out and since I was going to have this sitting in my van I did not want the risk water leakage in my van. It's not that big of deal to dump it out when you are finished using the cooler.
The latches like the ones here on some other brand coolers, I have read were too hard to pull and then some of them broke eventually from having to pull them so hard and stretching them so much. The latches on the Igloo seem to be just right. You don't have to pull really hard, just enough to release it and then put it back to secure it. I also like the little places on the top for tie downs. The handle is very sturdy and solid and easy to grip. Igloo has been making coolers for a long long time, and this is a lot less expensive than some other competitors and I doubt if someone is going to want to steal my Igloo cooler, another reason why I went with this brand. It looks really good too and fits perfectly in my passenger seat in my van. It will sweat a bit of course, so I just put a tarp underneath it and a towel to absorb any moisture. This is really perfect for a one to 3 day outing for sure and I'm glad I decided to go with Igloo!

We were traveling this summer with our Maine Coon cat who eats homemade raw food. I frozen the food before traveling and used a gallon jug of water that I froze and 2 ice packs that were made for shipping food. We didn’t open the cooler at all while traveling. It kept the cat food frozen from noon on Friday until 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. Pretty impressive!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, looks cool, and kept ice frozen and food cold

We needed a new cooler since we got rid of our last one. We were road tripping over to Phoenix from Las Vegas and wanted to take food, drinks, snacks, etc. My husband was trying to talk me into buying a Yeti because his son has one and loves it. They live in Florida and go boating, camping, ATVing all the time so they could justify the cost. Knowing that we will only use it a few times a year, I set out to find a cheaper alternative, but still a very good quality cooler. I did some research and found that Igloo has a much higher end line of coolers than they used to and this one got really good reviews, so I ordered it.

In reading the reviews, I learned that you can pre-condition a cooler by filling it with ice and frozen water bottles overnight and everything will stay cold longer. Neither of us had ever heard of that so we decided to try it with this new cooler. We did, and the next morning, we added our food and other drinks to it and stuck it in the trunk of my car. Phoenix is about a four-hour drive from Vegas and the temps started out at over 100 and got up to 110+ by the time we got there. When we got to the hotel and opened the cooler in our room, everything was as frozen as it was when we left. Maybe not too remarkable but pretty impressive given how hot it was in the trunk of my car. Anyhoo, we unloaded the food into the mini fridge and left the drinks and frozen waters in the cooler. We were making drinks with the mixers in the cooler, so we opened it a lot! Hee hee Everything was super cold the next day and the water bottles were still frozen, but the ice we brought with us had thawed enough so that it was ice cubes mixed with water. By the third day, the day we left, the water bottles were still almost completely frozen with just a little water in each one. We added a little ice from the hotel ice machine and it tends to be slightly watery, but by the time we got about two hours away and stopped for snacks, we opened the cooler and that hotel ice was even more frozen than when we put it in! Okay, now THAT’S pretty remarkable!

Needless to say, this cooler is perfect for how we’ll use it. That was our trial run, but we'll also use it for day trips in our side-by-side since it fits perfectly in the bed. One thing I like is that the drain plug screws on instead of just popping in or out, so it can’t be accidentally drained. Not only that, it looks really cool, AND they have several color combinations of that model so you can order the color combo that suits you best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cooler

Sitting in a van in the sun all day, the ice was not all melted. Even after I get it home and in the garage, at least 1/2 the ice was still in there the next morning.
Also, three days later still in the garage there was
no ice left, but the water in the cooler left behind by the melted ice, was still cool to the touch. The bottle of water I left in it was still cool enough to drink.
It only took me three try’s but I finally bought a cooler I’m happy with.

Exactly what I thought it would be. Sturdy and well insulated. Less than half the cost of a Yeti!

I have loved using the cooler so far this summer. It is definitely big and bulky, so it's a bit difficult to carry sometimes when transporting, but that's what you pay for when you get a 72 gallon cooler, something that's durable and not going to break easily. The only negative thing that I really have found about the cooler is that it does not keep ice for 5 days like advertised, I'd say 3 to 3.5 days max, in 80 degree weather.

Bought this for a trip to Colorado and New Mexico where we knew the summer temps would be 90 plus. This cooler kept Igloo ice packs and frozen water bottles solid for two days. The third day the same packs and bottles showed some melting, but not much. I think one of the key things to keeping things cold in this or any cooler, is to not open the lid more than needed and close it right away after removing what you need.
I would recommend this cooler as it is well built and keeps things COLD, and at a lot less money than the over rated Yeti stuff.
