I’ve purchased 4 different brands of camera feeders and three were nearly twice the price of this one once you pay for optional solar and accessories. The Bird Lover truly earns its name in its simplicity, ease of assembly and is much better designed.
Camera can actually be removed for easier cleaning unlike the Birdfy feeders. Plastic parts are augmented with metal retaining receptors that minimize the chance of breakage. The feeder tray has much better drainage than other feeders, as well.
And the best part is the solar panel is built in to the roof!! Other feeders require a separate solar panel purchase and add another $30 to their already hefty price. The mounting system is superior and makes it easier to remove for filling and cleaning. Also includes a strap for tree mounting however I would caution against tree mounting or any mount that permits squirrels easy access.
[NOTE: AI bird recognition appears to be accurate so far. I don’t get a wide variety of species so time will tell.]
Speaking of squirrels and as a person who has had two feeders basically destroyed by squirrels I highly recommend mounting on a solid masonry wall or a post at least 8’ above any access point and 10’ from any adjacent structures that squirrels can use to “fly from” and trust me some squirrels can fly. Best of all is the automatic squirrel alert siren that claims to detect squirrels presence and will automatically sound a shrill siren sound to startle such pests. The jury is out on that but other feeders require you to react to an alert which “falses” a lot (so often gets turned off), even if they did work you must activate the siren manually. The Bird Lover feeder does this automatically. I’ll update this review once the squirrels try their best to attack this feeder.
I really like how easily this feeder went together and paired to my phone as well as the extra suet and water bottle attachments other competitors charge $30-40 optionally as accessories. This price is a bargain compared to most other brands.
One note to save you time is to use the reset (sync) feature by use of a paper clip to reset (hold down 5 sec). Mine came with a 93% full battery but I assumed it was ready to pair however after the reset it paired right up in 2 sec.
Bottom line: this feeder is superior in design to any other brand I’ve had in the past. And is priced well compared to the competition. Definitely a Best Buy in my humble opinion.

The plastic the actual house is made of was a little thinner than I was expecting but ended up being a nice surprise! By the time we added the camera and the bird feed it was decently heavy and i would have been worried about the weight. It also comes with a little water dispenser attachment.
The blue plastic is a much different color than pictured but again a nice surprise! I love seafoam so this was a great color for us!
The camera works of solar which is super convenient.
Overall I think this is such a fun addition to our bird house collection and would make a GREAT GIFT to anyone you don't know what to get this holiday season!
