About this item

【Latest Upgraded Smart Controller】 The SUNAPEX 2024 smart charging controller features an integrated charging microprocessor and upgraded charging algorithms. It boosts charging efficiency by 20%-30% compared to other controllers. With multiple protective functions, it prevents overcharging, overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating, short circuits, and offers reverse polarity protection. Efficiently charge and maintain your batteries without any safety concerns.
【Visual Charging Indicators】 The controller has three colored LEDs: blue, red, and green. These indicators provide clear visibility of the charging status: When sunlight reaches the solar panel, the blue light illuminates. Once the solar panel system is connected to the battery, the red light turns on. When the battery is fully charged, the green light indicates completion. The controller automatically stops charging when the battery is full and resumes charging and maintenance when the voltage drops within the rechargeable range.
【High-Efficiency Monocrystalline Solar Cells】This solar battery charger uses the highest conversion efficiency monocrystalline solar panel cells, this system achieves an impressive 25%-30% conversion efficiency. Compared to traditional polycrystalline and amorphous solar panels, it charges faster and more efficiently.
【Tough ETFE and Weatherproof】ETFE, known for its exceptional toughness, is used on the surface of this solar battery maintainer. It boasts a 95% light transmittance and remarkable weather resistance. Whether exposed to sunlight or rainwater, these panels remain stable and maintain their efficiency over time. The entire solar panel is sealed to be waterproof, windproof, and sandproof. It can withstand various outdoor conditions, including rain, snow, hail, thunderstorms, sandstorms, and high temperatures.
【Wide Compatibility】This solar trickle charger can charge most popular 12V rechargeable batteries, including sealed lead-acid, lithium, LiFePO4, gel, AGM, and more. It’s suitable for charging batteries in trailers, tractors, trucks, boats, motorcycles, RVs, cars, lawnmowers, water pumps, gate openers, electric fences, and more. The kit includes three types of battery clips (alligator clips, O-rings, and cigarette lighter adapters). The controller and solar panel are integrated, eliminating unnecessary connection steps. The SAE plug-and-play design ensures convenience and quick setup. It can charge single 12V batteries, two 6V batteries in series, or multiple 12V batteries in parallel.
【Easy Installation and Portability】This lightweight and compact solar panel is highly portable, making it convenient for travel without adding extra burden. Equipped with suction cups and carabiners, you can easily attach it to car windows, windows, or hang it anywhere you need.
【Worry-Free Warranty and Support】SUNAPEX provides a one-year warranty for the solar panel and lifetime technical support. Our 24/7 customer service ensures prompt responses to your inquiries. If you’re unsatisfied with our product or need technical assistance, feel free to reach out anytime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for keeping that car in your backyard charged!
Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2024
I have been researching, debating, shopping, reading reviews for a very long time and felt like I found what I was looking for in this 10W charger so I purchased a few months ago.
I buy and sell a few cars as a hobby and in some cases the car sits a very long time before I get around to selling. I do use pug in battery maintainers on motorcycles and cars in a garage that are close to AC power but I needed a good solar charger as I have a few cars in my back yard that I try and start and run but during winter months I forget, This 10w version is perfect. I check the cigarette lighter, 12v outlet in my car / suv to make sure the inside 12v outlet does not turn off with key ( Use a cell phone charger with led light to check yours ) but I prefer to use the inside the car plug simply so the unit does not sit in the rain, as I understand it has no issue with rain but I siply keep it in the front window and it works fine.
The #1 thing I needed with a charger is that it had to have the built in maintainer "smart" electronics as I did not want to overcharge my battery. Looks like many other small solar charges does not have that smart box but this unit does! I was surprised to the build quality as it looks and feel better that I was expecting. I have an older SUV that the battery was getting old and weak and failed to start. I did charge the old battery with a plug in charger but I then connected this solar charger and the car sat but this unit kept the battery charged, The 10w version I find perfect for keeping car batteries ready to crank!
Happy With the product!

Good cord length, even for a full size pickup.
Super easy to connect.
Light indicators are very clear, so I know exactly what it is doing.
I bought two to keep my lesser-used vehicles topped off, and even after months of disuse, they start up like the battery is new.
Only two suction cups will stick at a time, since the connection box is too large. This won't be a problem if it is suctioned inside a window.
Definitely worth buying if you have a battery you want to keep topped off for long periods of time... versatile enough to use on a vehicle or a battery by itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does provide power

Needs more sun than the one it replaced. Sometimes I only get 8 volts which will not charge a battery. Tractor did stary after 2 or 3 months so expect it does change sometimes.

This works really well for my 12 volt marine battery that I use for my inverter in the back of my truck to power two Ryobi fans in the summer for my dogs. The battery can be below 40% and within a couple hours it’s fully charged in direct sunlight

My project car (1984 Corvette) has a slow electrical circuit drain. This solar charger maintains the battery charge despite the circuit drain. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Solar Charger
Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2021
My experience with solar chargers started about a year ago. I had a 5 watt charger that a friend had given me for my generator battery. I never used it for that.

Fast forward one year later - I have since retired and my truck sits in my driveway a lot more than it used to.
My battery kept going dead so I tried the 5 watt charger and waited a week to see if it either worked or if my battery was dead again.
To my surprise it worked! My truck started right up but the problem was that the old battery was 4 years old at that point and I knew that this was going to keep happening unless I either went back to work or I was going to keep the solar charger on my truck battery.

The sun and the heat warped my 5 watt charger so I needed a new one. I saw this one and it was on sale at the moment I purchased it here on Amazon. You should know that any solar charger you buy will be subjected to extreme heat and light so please keep that in mind when you buy one of these things. I recently went to remove mine during a hot afternoon and nearly burnt myself because the unit was so hot after being on my dashboard in the midday sun in front of my dashboard heat shield (see pic).

20 watts seems to be the limit for a solar charger before it needs a separate controller to regulate the flow of power to what whatever it is you're charging.
Also for those who care at 20 watts the charger is putting out about one amp of DC electricity which would be the equivalent of a trickle charger output from a battery tender.

I like this unit because the solar panel is flexible instead of being rigid or made from hard plastic like my 5 watt charger. The holes in each corner give you the flexibility on how you want to position for maximum sunlight exposure. In my case I laid the panel down on my dashboard and put my big sunshade behind it to protect the dashboard and interior of the truck from the heat and sun fade. The sunshade keeps the panel propped up for best sun exposure.

I didn't write the review until I tested it out the same way I tested the 5 watt panel, by waiting a week to see if my new battery (Northstar AGM- NOT RECOMMENDED due to it going dead within 10 days of inactivity and VERY poor warranty support-see my review) would be able to start my truck (Nissan Murano). The Murano has a 3.5 liter engine, not a big engine by any standard yet I have to keep a solar charger on it in order to prevent the battery from draining on me.

The charger has been on my truck for about 3 weeks now and whenever I decide to go for a drive my truck starts right up with no issues. I disconnect the charger before I start the truck and when I come home I reconnect it. A bit of a pain in the neck but it guarantees that my truck will always start no matter how long it sits in my driveway

I can see this charger might have other uses too. It could be used in a camping situation to charge battery packs or an emergency situation as well.

The only minor quibble I have is that the panel does come with a small controller attached to the back to let you know that the charger is charging. There are 3 lights on this little controller. One to let you know that it's receiving sunlight so that it can function. Another LED to let you know that it's charging whatever battery you have it attached to. Then there is a third LED, a green one. Once an item is fully charged the green light is supposed to come on. I have yet to see this green light come on but the charger does work as it's intended.

Update 5-29-21- The green light on the controller does appear to function! I noticed the other day after having my truck sitting with the charger attached the green light on the back of the solar panel was on! Apparently my battery must have been low and it took time for the charger to top off the battery.

Highly recommended
