These test strips are great for testing treated well water, (Cl) especially if you are frequently testing.
Easy to use, quick delivery and great price.

Works as described. We used it mostly for the hardness to help determine what water softener we needed. Was accurate.

SO you have a bunch of water quality tests all bundled into a single test strip. Great. And it comes in a bottle with 125 strips so you can do 125 tests over the next three months at a single water source, or test 125 different water sources once each, very nice. BUT...

The way it works is: dip the stick into the water for 2 seconds, then wait 15 seconds, then compare the color on the stick to the colors on the chart on the side of the bottle. This has a number of problems, which I'll list for you here:
1. The chart is on the outside of the bottle. Over time, the colors fade. So if you keep the bottle more than 6 months, the scale is no longer correct. Throw it out and get a new bottle. Or try to find a new color scale chart somewhere for this exact test strip.
2. The increments (measurement tick marks) on the scale chart are too far apart, it's not very precise and you'll end up GUESSING at the exact result, like "oh we have lead in our water, somewhere between 20 and 40 ppm but I'm not sure if it's closer to 20 or 40" ... so don't use it if you need an EXACT result.
3. The maximum and minimum they use for the color scales are stupid, they DO NOT correspond in ANY way to the "safe limits" for drinking water. They're completely arbitrary. For instance, lead has a "safe limit" of 0.015 ppm. But the color scale STARTS at 20 ppm. When any result over 0.01 would be a cause for concern. So the lead test is basically useless because it ALWAYS makes you think the result is "I have lead in my water!!" since it won't show you the range between 0 to 19 ppm. Similarly, if your pH is above 9 you'll never know it because the scale only goes up to 9. "Safe level" is 8.5 but physically it is possible to have pH up to 14. Anything over 12 will basically melt your skin off if you touch it. In Texas the city of College Station has drinking water with a pH of 10.5. Because it costs too much money to fix it. So some of the tests are kind of useless because the scale limits are so bad.
4. Given how they arranged the limits of the tests and all that, it is clear to me (as a water quality professional) that this test kit is intended for INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER or INDUSTRIAL PROCESS WATER testing. NOT for drinking water testing. DO NOT buy it if you want to test the drinking water or shower water at your house. DO buy it if you want to test the water going into your company's electroplating bath, or coming off of your company's sewer treatment outflow.

If you really want to test the water at your home, call your town or city office and ask to speak with their water utility department. They'll have some better suggestions for how to cheaply, quickly, and easily test your home drinking water instead of using this, which is just NOT designed for home drinking water testing.

easy to use product. A bit murky to read accurately but easy to use.

I feel good enough with the results of this test to use it again if needed. Some of the test 'pads' on the strip dont hold the same color across the whole pad so it could be this color or that one depending on what edge you look at.

The user must have working knowledge of their, as new filter readings for meaningful, logical comparisons. And taking comparison readings from raw tap or well water is helpful when record keeping is diligently maintained. Otherwise, you are still only shooting in the dark.

1.0 out of 5 stars Accuracy is not correct and most test squares only partially change colors.
Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2024
I performed 4 tests with these strips on four different samples. one of the samples had a water quality test performed on it prior to testing and one sample was from the local city water which has average high and low and low readings along with the current reading posted online. When performing the test most of the test squares only partially changed colors making it difficult to determine the actual colors. IN addition, the test squares that partially turned kept changing color back to 0 within 5 seconds of testing

The iron test square never turned on any of the samples including the one lab tested at 2.5 PPM. Two of the four samples were from my well which is known to have between 0.2 and 3 ppm iron from prior testing and the strips also showed 0 on these two samples as well. On these two samples the color of the water was a rusty orange and if you let the samples sit the rust will fall out of the water onto the bottom of the cup.

I would recommend trying a different brand that will give more accurate, complete and stable results

We got a little bit of a scar from our pediatrician who got a contaminated sample. My daughter came up over the threshold for lead. We ended up going for another appointment 3 weeks later and she had no lead content in her blood, so she's all clear.

This product gave me results that provided me peace of mind while I waited.
