This fit perfectly on my 15-year old Troy-Bilt Storm 10028 (10 HP Tecumseh motor). My symptoms: ran erratic and motor surging. Last year, I kept the choke slightly on to somewhat smooth it out. This year, it was really rough and nothing helped. So, I took the carburetor out, since I figured the emulsion tube holes were plugged. And, don't pay attention to the YouTube videos on removing the carburetor on a Troy-Bilt 10-24. A 10-24 is a bit of a pain. The 10028 is easy. 4 screws on the plastic cover, 4 screws on the metal shield, and 1 screw on the key switch and everything's out of your way.
What's a pain on this carburetor is the emulsion tube itself. The old ones were brass and came out relatively easy. This one is nylon, and almost impossible to remove without breaking it and tearing up the O-rings. I tried spraying it in place with Mac's carburetor cleaner and the ol' SeaFoam flooding cleaning trick. Both excellent products, but without being able to manually unplug the emulsion tube holes, it just didn't work. Then I saw this carburetor on Amazon. And...it cost less than what I spent on my carburetor cleaners alone! Could it actually be any good? Well, at this price, what have I got to lose.
It came last night--two days early. Fortuitous, because we got an overnight snow. Typical Colorado weather...50 degrees one day, 6 inches of snow the next. I got up at 2am, took the snow blower apart and got the old carburetor off, transferred the choke mechanism and hold-down strap (just 2 screws each--easy) and had it all back together again. 50 minutes total, from start to finish. I filled it up with fresh gas, and it fired right up, running smooth as glass. I cleared my 140' x 20' driveway over the next 3 hours without a single hiccup.
Anyone that's thinking about rebuilding their old carburetor, please, don't do it! Just take the old one off, transfer the choke strap and the hold-down strap onto this new carburetor and save yourself two days of grief. You'll be happy you did. Your good old Troy-Bilt snowblower will once again run like new.
One final note: this kit comes with a new throttle knob, choke knob, primer bulb, gas shut-off valve, gas and primer lines and clamps. I didn't need them, but they'll be nice to have on hand in case any of this stuff breaks in the future.
