    I bought this for my bird-obsessed dad for Father's Day this past year and he is still very giddy about it! It was really easy to set up and so far so good, it has held up to the elements and has given stellar views of variety of birds. It works great with the app they want you to download. It also acts as another security camera, so it's very useful. It looks very modern and cute too. My dad loves this freaking thing so much that I have plans to get myself one!

    A friend got a similar camera last year for Christmas, and I was having serious FOMO. When this one went on sale, I snapped it up, and it might be the best purchase I made all year.

    We have it strapped to a pole, so the video wobbles when a bird lands or takes off. The amount of the wobble is directly proportional to the chonkiness of the bird. Otherwise, the camera quality is clear. It fogs up a little if we have a super humid early morning, but not enough to obscure the video.

    One unexpected bonus is that this doubles as a security camera. I'm not saying you should use it for this purpose or that this should replace any other security measures, but the camera is sensitive. In addition to the birds, it's picked up stray cats walking past, my husband when he mows the yard, and another family member walking around that edge of the pond (not near the bird feeder). It also picks up people walking up to the porch.

    We love this so much that we're ordering more to go in other areas of the yard so we can catch as many bird (and squirrel) species as possible.

    Does exactly what promised. Easy to set up and maintain. Signing up for the cloud service, which is needed to extend recording time, is a little clunky and it takes 24 hours to start after completing registration. Took birds 2-3 days to find it, but since then it has been non stop visits from a variety of birds.

    I have to admit that the manual that comes with this is not the best, but I still found the little bit of assembly needed quite easy. Once you download the VicoHome App it is very easy to get the camera up and running. Be sure to order a mini SD card. Formatting the SD card in the VicoHome app was easy. The camera takes great video. It is easy to operate the camera from the app to put it to sleep and change power settings. It’s great that you can watch a live feed and even speak through the app. I’ve used this to scare away a robin that was consuming too much of my mealworms. You can even use it as an intercom to talk with someone near the feeder. The only issues I’ve had is that the antenna is loose and I can’t get it to stay tight but it still operates fine and the threads that hold the thumb screw popped out. The thumb screw secures the birdhouse to the pole but since the unit is heavy enough that the thumb screw is not really needed.

    After 2 months Wi-Fi connectivity is tenuous. Right now the camera is down. Tech support is through email and each question or problem is answered once a day. Rebooting only worked for a few hours. This camera birdfeeder was almost perfect at first even though I’ve always had a weak signal. But now no WiFi and I guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see what they say. I’ll keep you posted. Update: haven’t heard from tech support for 3 days now. I’ve always had a weak signal, but it still worked good, except for the live setting. But now connectivity only works about half the time. I took their suggestion and tried moving the feeder to a more optimal location. But now the only time I get a medium WiFi signal is when the bird feeder is 2 1/2 feet off the ground and 10 feet away the the router. The squirrels love it! I’ll keep posting until this connectivity problem is solved because when it works, it’s great! Update 4/1/2024. The only advice they give me is to move feeder to better location or buy a new router. Since I’ve already tried moving it to a new location without success and the fact that I already have 4 security cameras outside my house that work just fine, I can only assume that the WiFi signal from feeder camera is of low quality. So take my review and purchase of this product with some trepidation. The feeder may work for you just fine, but for me it was a waste of money. Update: (4/4/2024) Their tech support can offer me no workable solutions to my lack of connectivity.
