5.0 out of 5 stars They thought of everything!

At first, the number of items to unpack and learn about was daunting, but after getting familiar in a few minutes, it all made sense and was simple to proceed with. The design is very thorough and comes with everything you need, down to the finest detail. They even provided a quick start guide that is laminated so any drips of water won’t ruin it. One tip I figured out is to use the little domes upside down filled with water to soak your seeds. And place all the domes side by side in one bowl to protect them while soaking, and remember to label them around the bowl while soaking. This keeps the varieties separately identified and safe. The price for everything that you get is very economical and inexpensive. I also figured out after the first day, to power it up at a time that is in sync with real sunrise so that the plants will get some darkness while the natural sun is down. Also, the vegetable light setting is very bright so setting the 18 hours on during daytime hours is best for less disturbance in the home. I even found a room to keep it in where we don’t live to shut out the brightness. The unit is very very quiet. To hear the pump, you have to put your ear next to the unit and listen carefully. This product is so well designed and made that I can’t be more impressed. And, for the lower price, I am stunned and do very much recommend this to anyone wanting fresh herbs, especially in the winter months as was my reason for hydroponic-ing. Edit: The marker stakes did not fit in the side holes. And the stickers covered too much surface to be useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great customer service and easy to use
Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2024
I've been using this since last summer, and it works great. It is incredibly easy to use. You literally fill it up with water, mix the provided fertilizer with water in the provided bottles (very hard to mess it up, since it's so clearly marked), pour the measured amount into the water, and chuck a few seeds (provided) into the spongy pods (aslo provided). And up comes your plants. I grew some of the delicious herbs it came with (two iterations), and after that, grew some notoriously difficult-to-grow lavender plants. Those are now standing at about 7-9" high, and will be going into individual pots to be moved to the garden in a month or two.

However, as easy as all that was, I have to commend them on their customer service. I had some questions on fertilizer, and they responded very quickly, with friendly and helpful answers. Same with some follow-up questions. I wanted to buy some fertilizer without the plastic bottles (becasue I already have those, and there's no sense in getting more when the ones I have are still fine), but they don't offer the fertilizer as a separate product. They said that they would probably start offering that, for people who do not need the additional bottles, and who care about adding plastic to the ecosystem. They also recommended not buying fertilizer in bulk, as it is water-soluible and can easily spoil -- which I didn't know.

I wholeheartedly recommend buying this product from this vendor, becasue of the ease of use, and even more so because of the great customer service, which is so hard to find these days.

Edit: Since I raved about their customer service, I thought I'd add a few lines from their emails. Seriously, I don't even care if this was AI-generated, or randomly added by some nice-line editor (neither seems likely), but I appreciate the fact that someone at GardenCube cared enough to make it happen.
    - This was the first one, after I requested some support: "We hope you find this helpful and thank you for your support and interest in GardenCube."
    - Then when I asked a follow-up question, where I suggested they sell the fertilizer mix without the included plastic bottles: "Thank you again for being considerate of the environment, the world will be a better place because of you."
    - Later, after another follow-up question: "Wishing you all the love and happiness that you so richly deserve."
    - And most recently, after a question before I bought a larger one (12-pod; my first one was an 8-pod) of their planters: "I hope this experience will leave you with great memories :)"

Seriously? :-) Someone needs to give their customer service people a bonus. I don't know where they are, but I feel like going there and buying them all lunch.

Oh, and a follow-up on the lavender I mentioned above, is that they are now all too big for the planter, and will be moved to pots over the weekend. In a month or two they'll be outside, keeping the mosquitos away.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far - so good!

Pretty impressed with the Garden Cube hydroponics growing system! Most of the seeds grow quickly and the automatic watering system is great for someone like me who tends to forget to water plants.

Setting up the growing system was super easy. As directed - I soaked the seeds about 10 hours (5 - 12 hours is recommended) before planting.

I started with romaine, cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers, and spinach.
The romaine, cucumbers, and tomatoes began sprouted within 2 - 3 days.
It's been a week and I'm just now seeing the peppers sprout slightly.
Didn't have a lot of luck with the spinach - so we decided to try kale - we'll see what happens.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works!

The seed starting cones need to be a little deeper or not as wide. My first seed batch didn’t root. I put a tiny layer of soil the second time and success! It was easy to set up. I wish it can with a couple of more covers for the holes but the plant caps work fine as a replacement. It’s quiet and I like that it has its own timer. Overall it’s a good buy for small growers. I’m using it as a starter before I transfer to a larger container.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing for Seed Starting

I originally intended to use this for growing lettuce indoors during the summer. It works great for that purpose, but it’s also perfect for starting seedlings to later transplant into soil. The seedlings that I’ve started in the GardenCube germinate faster and are much healthier and less leggy than the seeds that I’ve started in soil. The three micro-dwarf tomato plants in the last photo were started in the GardenCube then moved to a window box planter, and they have been thriving. The only real maintenance so far has been topping off the water periodically and fertilizing every couple of weeks. One thing to consider is that the grow light only extends up to one foot, so it’s best for shorter plants unless you plan on transplanting taller plants out later.
