This little beast is a handy tool to have around the home. Despite its lightweight and diminutive size, it’s capable of doing large size jobs. With a sharp blade and used properly, it rips through tree branches at least 4” – 5” in girth. It will probably go through branches of almost any size, if need be, by cutting from different angles. Nothing I cut bogged it down.
The saw came assembled with the chain and guide bar installed; a convenient rotating knob is used to adjust the chain tension. As any chainsaw will, it requires bar oil, that you’ll need to provide yourself; a completely useless bar oil plastic bottle is provided. Have a funnel on hand. The saw is supplied with two batteries, a real handy convenience. When you’ve gone through one, you can put it on the charger and keep working with the other. I didn’t time them, but the batteries take a while to charge, at least two hours each. I don’t know how much charge they had when they arrived; there’s no charge state indicator on the battery or charger. When you connect a battery to the charger you get a red light that turns green when it’s charged; the manual doesn’t provide any information on charging.
Except for the bar and chain, the saw is all plastic, with a rubberized handle area for comfort. It has a safety button that must be pushed to release the trigger. Once held down, the button can be released. A word of warning: don’t take its toy-like stature and diminutive size for granted. This mini chainsaw will cut to the bone and beyond more quickly than the user might be able to react. Handle it with care and stay focused while it’s in use; there is a lot of exposed chain. Use appropriate safety gear.
After use, its easy to clean by removing the bar cover; a lot of detritus collects under it; a small brush is supplied for this purpose. Also removing the chain and soaking it in oil will help extend its life. And removing dirt from its bar track with a toothpick or something else that fits. Other than that, just wipe off the exterior.
The Mini Chainsaw is supplied with a useful plastic case, along with a few useless accessories that include the aforementioned bar oil bottle, cloth gloves that are not likely to provide protection against anything within the realm of chain sawing, and a pretend pair of safety glasses. Useful accessories include the charging block, a cleaning brush, a small Philips head screwdriver, and an extra chain and battery. The cheap, toy-like accessories are forgivable, since what you do get for $30 is still a good value. No doubt they were thrown in there so the seller could say they were.
Durability is always an unknow quantity so early in ownership, but aside from that, it seems like an excellent value. The seller does offer 30-days free return and a one-year warranty. What would make a useful accessory for the saw is a pole that it can be attached to for reaching high branches and the like. I do note that there are such kits available, but I haven’t found an optional pole for this saw. Maybe the seller will hear me. In the meantime, I have no criticisms of the saw.
